I Had My golf 1.8t 6 months now, I've been told when i bought it that there is approx 220 bhp. how can i see what modifications have been done to achieve this?
i don't want to plan an upgrade if its already been done. all i know is that its had a remap, stage 2 maybe :undecided:
-
does it have a silicone tip 007p or 008 forge dv.. fmic.. exhaust or any uprated boost pipes catch can maybe best way to tell is get it booked into somewhere thats got rollers to get a true output of what its running and what year and engine code is the car mate
-
For a start, what year is your golf? Later models came with the KO3S turbo, which will easily allow you up to 220bhp. The only way you will truly know, is by getting it on a rolling road.
-
indeed, more details needed. Also take a look at my project section for a rough idea of what engine mods I needed to buy/fit to get 225bhp from mine so far
-
i'll get a few pics posted up. how do i find the engine code? can i see what turbo it is by looking at it?
thanks

theres a little tap on the front left of the head.
wont be able to tell from looking down at the turbo, but will be able to determine from the engine code.

id see about uprating that pipe, far too small, which youll be doin anyway cos if you want more power then front mount ic should be your first call
-
To me it looks like it connects to the charge pipe, can you take off top cover and take another picture??
-
After having a closer look it dosent look like there has been that much done to it. i think standard ic, no forge 007p. here's a few more pics for you to look at and comment on.
Thanks

As I thought Dv cold side relocation kit I just thought the charge pipe should be blocked and the pipe should go to the tip.... Or am I being a Bellend???
What dv is it??
-
When you change gear do you hear it chatter or does it chushh or pissf???
-
its like a quick chushh.
-
bit of over engineering just for a relocation kit, especially as itll make no real difference
-
Still think that it should be connected the other side of the turbo :undecided:
-
Yeah, it should be.
All thats doing is putting boost air back into the boost side of your turbo....Where as it should be dumping into the TIP.....
-
What do you recommend? revert to standard, or moved the pipe to the into the tip.
-
what dv is it?
first i would try moving it to the tip and blocking the charge pipe one off.....
if you cant make that fit revert to standard location but as you got it cold side may as well keep it like it...
-
anyone gold a pic of how a cold side relocation should look like?

-
what dv is it?
Turbosmart. ive taken it off now, just not sure what my next move should be. sell it? get a standard forge 007p?
Couldn't relocate to the tip with existing pipe. could use new hose to tip and block off charge pipe.

also found this, so was the set up right?
http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/81860.aspx
-
at a guess i bet it is for vag cars that have the inlet manifold the other way round (t/b on the right) so the pipe reaches to the tip
tru and get a standard one/007 or get a londer hose and try it
-
were are you located anyway???

Will this hose be ok to use to extend to the tip?

-
Cheers mate if your local ill give u a hand Pm me where u at

If i relocate to the tip, will it use a problem? because i think the car has been mapped with the previous set up.
