Title: Car seems slower after i fitted Forge 007p
Post by: turbopete on 12 March 2012, 13:12
Fitted a forge 007p but my car doesnt seem to have as much poke as it did with standard black one. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

Put a new silicone pipe on the top of valve, couldnt see any split pipes.

u must have a boost leak, fitting a 007 wont make it anyy slower

Checked for leaks next to Valve but nothing noticeable. Did notice a hole in exhaust though, Could that make a difference?

How did you "check for leaks?", done all jubilees up tight?

Is it mapped? What spring is in there if one at all?

Just looked for splits in the hoses i was working next too. Ill double check the clips tonight. Yes its mapped, got a green spring in. Seems to be lacking in torque more than anything.

Try a yellow spring. Mine held boost better when I went from green to yellow.

Just a bit weird you say it happened after you fitted the 007p. So fingers pointing to that area.

Ill double check clips and if that doesnt work ill try a yellow spring, for the sake of £20. Cheers

Do you have an air compressor?

Pressure test it to be sure.

Got a compressor yeah, How do i test it? Not much cop with this type of stuff.

Do a bit of searching on here pal, basically you block off the boost tract at various points and pressurise it, any leakage you will hear/see ( if you are a tart like me and go round each joint with gas detector )

Wouldnt reccommend it though if you not confident, even at "low" pressures, you could damage the car or yourself if you dont do things correctly.

Can't see forge making a "new and improved" dv, with its own inbuilt fault

Saying that though, any successful users?

I've been thinking about getting one. Is a diverter valve the same as a dump valve? I was also told by 2 mechanics dump valves are no good for the engine and can cause problems. What you lot think?

What you think about the Forge 008 then? No go or approved? I just read the sticky quite a good read.  They say a must on a mapped engine. Mines not mapped...YET!

No clue pal, aint had a need to look into it yet.

You need an uprated dv before map, cant tell you which one to choose though.

Think i will just go forge 008 then. If that's what you mean uprated DV.

I would have said buy a 008 if I knew, I dont, I have had no need to look into them, by "uprated" I mean, not a standard one.

007Ps seem to be highly recomended on here. Ive probs done something wrong when fitting.

Yep, or massive co-incidence, which mk4's have a nasty habit of doing!
