Title: New MK4 owner...HELP
Post by: TaraLouGOLFGTI on 06 March 2012, 14:33
Hi Guys and Girls,

I'm a new MK4 GTI owner, just recently brought myself one and I love it but it needs some TLC, the guy I brought it from fitted a new air filter but took the air flow meter off, I replaced this... but since then my car has been making some awful noise and judders when in idle....
Has anyone had any problems similar to this?
Im going to replace the spark plugs to begin with as they need doing any way......

any suggestions or tips will be much loved!

also looking for lowering springs and any thing else as it is standar.

Thanks

Tara-Lou

Is it the AGU or AUM? could a number of things depending on which engine you have.

Best bet is to put it on VAGCOM and see if ith throws any errors.

Did you replace the MAF with a new one or the old one the seller supplied?

HAHAHA!!!

Brought up by a mechanic.... no choice!

Well its in the garage today and tomorrow... Someone else suggested it might be the coil pack... Apparently a common problem?
Its currently having new spark plugs, new oil filter, oil change, new fuel filter... if this doesn't work Im going to get new leads and a new coil pack....

My poor baby needs a lot of TLC, tis a good project tho!
Wanna get some springs to lower it to begin with, so if anyone knows of any let me know!

OK so more work in the garage being done, mis firing from cylinder 2 and 3 - bad times - normally this means either headgasket or spark plugs so Ive asked for a compression test to be done to figure this out....
Any one heard of something similar?
I think I might just replace the head gasket and the coil pack any way... thought!?

replacing the head gasket to cure a misfire seems a little over the top, unless its showing other signs of gasket failure?
