Nice one. its a mk3 fiesta not keen on the mk4 rear end tho..
-
I always thought it was a horrific Mk3
-
to end the argument, if it was a mk3 golf, it would be in a canal, not a garage..
-
I always thought it was a horrific Mk3

First time i saw it though mk3 golf... then as i more saw it and thought... must be a fiesta!!
-
I always thought it was a horrific Mk3

-
Would never of known it was a fiesta always thought it was golf.
-
I knew it was a fiesta, the bloke that owns (or at least owned it at the time of filming) is on another forum I use.
-
Its a Fiesta from about 15 years ago...

Look at the hinge buttons on the rear side window. and the body waist line from the back, leading up to the mirror.

If it was a Golf, how would the advert make any sense?

What?
Are you serious?
-
Ford Fiesta
-
The engine is a twin cam. No golf has that.
What?
Are you serious?
I mean that has two cam pullys. A 16v golf has one then a chain driving the other shaft.
So yeah I am.
People think it's a mk3 so no golf at that age has a twin cam engine.
-
i thought it was a seat ibiza ,it looks like one , and the 'just like a golf' comment would be appropriate.

Twin Cam. 2 x Camshafts....irrelevant whether chain or belt driven.
People thought it was a Mk3...and there was a twin cam Mk3.
-
to end the argument, if it was a mk3 golf, it would be in a canal, not a garage..
that were you keep yours?

The golf 3 16v is a dohc but I wouldn't call it a twin dohc.
And iv never heard/read it being mentioned as a twin cam, only a double overhead camshaft.
-
lol

So duel, twin and 2 are all different values know? News to me

ah yes, but what if you add zero to two

You get nothing obviously.....don't you know that you can't add anything to zero
-
I'm not arguing that it isn't a twin cam as I'm not sure on that fact.
I always thought that if it's a twin cam that means it's identical.
The 16v isn't identical so I would only call that a DOHC.

Yes you can.
However you can't multiply anything to zero

Twin cams = two cams.
No cams are identical.

Doesn't the VR6 have a DOHC that are both chain driven?

We wouldn't be having this argument if everyone bought an 8v :lipsrsealed:

Ok it's a twin cam.
Yes I know the profile will be different from inlet to outlet.
Ok I was wrong of the understanding of twin cam.
I thought a twin cam looks identical to each other. Where as the golf 16v camshafts are totally different from each other.
Sorry for the misunderstanding of twin.
Christ it's not like I thought it was a sohc lol
-
Doesn't the VR6 have a DOHC that are both chain driven?
Yes but that is not what I meant mate.
A lot of cars are chain driven and twin cam.
I was simply saying the 16v golf doesn't have the same layout as most twin cams.
Most twin cams appear to have identical camshafts (twin) the golf isn't identical. That's why I thought it wasn't a twin cam. I know it's a duel over head cam.
It was a simple misunderstanding of the word twin.
-
i want 3 cams
Vtech? Or is that duel but only one at a time?
-
It's all about the quad cam!
-
i want 3 cams
Vtech? Or is that duel but only one at a time?
VTEC has two cams...but 3 lobes for each pair of inlet/exhaust valves!
Individual lobes for off-VTEC and a common lobe and rocker assembly, actuated by oil pressure via a solenoid for on-VTEC.
Still two cams though...
At least that's how the B16/B18s did it.
-
And the 3rd lope has a taller profile. So the valve stays open longer. The solenoid locks the rocker arms together and then uses the 3rd lope. That is at about 4500 rpm
-
Soz cam expert
-
you can get vtec sohc engines too..

It does apparently
It's got a sort of windage tray fitted...but it's hardly fully baffled.
Jeez...8v Diesels have a windage tray fitted as standard.
You still need to fit a proper baffled sump for heavy track use.
It's also cast alloy...which cracks and lumps fall out if you hit something unlike the earlier steel sump

Hold the thread subject!
Never mind the engine. A Renault 4 has the gearbox mounted in FRONT of the engine.
Now there's weird and then there's mounting the gearbox in front of the engine.
Every day's a school day.
