as per titel, haveing serious withdrawal symptoms from the aldi
it may cost upto £6.5k ( unless its really really really fast & fun)
it may be ether 4WD or RWD
it must have headroom as i'm tallish
it must be unpractical
i like cars that do sideways
it dosent have to be massive power or silly fast as long as its fun
mazda RX8's are Not an option
-
NISSAN PULSER . Always wanted one.
-
EVO 5 RS
-
MR2?
-
evo 5,6 does good sideways action lots of power and drinks as much as me although you can fit shopping in the back
-
MR2?
there crap or get an e39 m5
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3529902.htm
-
M3 all the way. I got a e39 2.8 it's big, it's heavy. It's not a fun car.

think the m5 will be a wee bit diffrent to a 528i
-
If you want fast and sideways, M3 (e46), M5 (e39), audi TT, impreza, of if you want "unpratical" go for a reliant scimitar (se4 3.0 v6) or (gtc 2.8 v6)
-
Import a VR6 syncro, strip it, tune it, cage it and trackday it.

Of course it will  but it won't be as fun as a lighter m3 and other cars. It's to big to have real sideways fun. More sideways sh!ts

just depends how u drive them  but 400bhp as standard sounds good to me

It is a lot different, gets about the same fuel economy if the person driving it is not driving like a hooligan, but honestly there isn't much chance of that! it's still a heavy car though so doesn't handle like an M3 does, but still handles very well and still likes to get sideways with the traction control off, M3 is quicker through the corners but not as fast on the straights, but both have enough power to satisfy as far as speed is concerned and both will kick their ars3's out if you want them too.
4.6 V8 MG ZT would be fun if you can find one, 500 hp supercharged ford V8 + rwd = very sideways, very fast and very unpratical!

I would love the MG, I'd love an E46 M3 even more, I wouldn't have an M5 as my mate (who lives in the same house as me) has one, so two M5's parked outside wouldn't look quite right to me.
I will get an M3 at some point when I can afford it. If I ever have the chance at the MG before I get an M3 then I'd get it

Rx7 2.6 twin turbo.. fast.. juicey.. unpractical..
R32 GTR skyline.. 2.6 twin turbo.. fast.. juicey.. practical..
Evos and scoobies a variety.. could get a P1 scooby
-
A quad
-
Lotus Elise, bit gay if you go shopping in it but muchos funnos on the track or B roads
-
scooby, a nice one can be had for relativley cheap, my mate bought a spanking wrx sti v5 for 4300 that would leave you couple of grand for decats panel filter walbro fuel pump and a re map, his cars 330bhp with that lot seriously quick car
or one of my personal faves s14 silvia for the drifter in you
-
Ford Capri.
-
Standard was 260bhp they only built one supercharged car for a record attempt :nerd:
If you're going to use a 'nerd' emoticon when you're touting 'facts' maybe check they're facts to start with.
'they' would be Roush who built the engine, not MG and it was hardly a production model.
There were quite a lot of supercharger conversions about, on the basis that supercharging a Mustang motor is pretty common.
If you're considering the speed record car an MG model the supercharged uprated ones are probably rather more production than it was.
The 260ZT-T idea has legs.
The VR6 Syncro idea also has legs, although I suspect the drivetrain would find its way under a more Golf2 shaped body before very long.
Possibly better than both of the above is to pick up a Locost and go racing with the 750MC.... or just drive the sh*t out of it.
-
Oh hang on:

lol need to spend as much again to get it to handle, makes a Mk3 look like a jet ski
Sweeney cool though
-

thats not going to happen
260ZT-T is an intresting idea and rover had nothing to do with makeing the engine so thats all good :)
E46 M3 bmw not going to happen, they have a bit of a reputation for going BANG frequently and are expensive to rebuild
something JAP and turboed is seeming like it may happen possobly a rwd datsun.
a locost chould be good fun ummm much to think about
-
so you actually want a rwd car rather than 4wd ?

If wayne is talking about the ZT, there are quite a few supercharged ones knocking around, I saw 3 parked next to each other for sale at a motor show I went to at brooklands.

mazda rx-7 like they are ridiculous and you say you like sideways?? this is the one :smug:
-
i love a good RWD.
mazda rotarys are not going to happen they are fun and sideways when they work but the engines are very short ived and the cars all be it cheep to buy are nigh on unsellable and replacement engines are expensive and it probaly will need a replacement engine
haveing another look at ginnetas  tho audi q's are also tempting me again
-
i know people that run rotarys and you can do a full rebuild for £600-700 yourself.. one guy i know taught himself and its run sweet for 2+ years now

LS-1 Crate Engine FTW:

But on ITBs, clearly.
Now crack on.
Here's your car:

not meany mecanical things scare me but for such simpel creatures rotary engines do. i have no wishes to rebuild another, they can be rebuilt cheeply sometimes other times its quite the opposite

Porsche 944 Turbo? A bit old school but small enough to be useable, good handling and plenty of potential for turning the wick up without killing the reliability.
If you just want fast, rear wheel drive, bang for buck and dont mind looking like your driving a thingy extension then you cant go far wrong with a Mk4 Toyota Supra..... Soooo much potential for turning the wick up .
-
I like the 944 Turbo.
Always loved the 944 looks (one of my favourite Porsches), and IMO it stands out from some of the other options here.
It's certainly more tempting to me than a Scoobie or Evo.
-
If it was me I would go for s14 or 350z I think. Or a corrolla gt.
-
LS-1 Crate Engine FTW:
would be fun, but must buy toy not project and finish golf before starting another project as well.
it's going to get me in trouble but no other way of decideding. will be going to the car auctions with someone who everyone else thinks the pair of us should be banned from going to car auctions together.
-
Caterham 7 with K series engine with phat carbs!
-
a K running on ITB's is awsome. belive it or not and MG midget with said engine would be quite a likely candidate if i chould actualy clamber out of them rather than haveing to roll and slide
caterham or locostixa is massivly growing
-
supercharged renault clio V6 phase 1= Awesome impractical fun

If you like Ginetta's and fancy a seven type car try looking at the Raw Pheonix. I used to love the look of these and think the bodywork looked better in previous incarnations (there has been a fair few versions of the bonnet through its various manufacturers lol) but they are pretty much a 7 with bodywork and a touch extra weight/comfort. http://www.striker-cars.co.uk/?cat=16

Stick a bigger donk in it and bung it through an SVA and it could be a cheap little bit of fun .
-
Toyota Supra 3.0 Twin Turbo. How much more fun do you want.?
-
toyota corolla AE86
-
its going to be a RWD kit car, going to look at a few
-
Why not go get something light and very scary? Enough grunt to kill you very quickly in this. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the Westfield SEight, effectively a Westfield with a stonking great V8 in it. What's not to love???
That said, they're a bit pricey. Shouldn't be too difficult to build one though...

The output of the Rover V8.
-
The man has a point. I'd still love to have a go though
-
i was thinking simler car. once ive found one for sale i can fit in and get in and out of without looking like a muppet engine will be thought about. quite likely to use a vag or honda lump. 2.0 tfsi westfield  tho to be fair a tweeked k powers them allong very well
-
On the subject of rover powered cars, have you taken a look at the price of TreVoRs? Shoddilly buil but theres more than enough parts suppliers around and as long as the chassis isnt rotten they can be a blast in that old school fashion.

in its defence the rover V8 can apply to better effect the argument everyone uses for justifying the VR6. the sound track it dose it a hell of a lot better than any VR ever did just disapointing that things powered buy it sound amazing and like they should go really fast ..... and they dont

I would be looking for a 2.0 Zetec/Duratec in such a car.
Far cheaper than tuning a NA VW motor, more torque than a Honda motor.
Great power and cheap as chips for parts.
It needs to be NA on a Caterfield type thing, surely?
2.0 NA on ITBs...and making 260ish BHP? Yes please...more so than a mapped 2.0 TFSI.

Only other option to what you have put is a TTS or Holeshot Busa super or turbo charged engine if its in a locaterfield. However, Honda K20's get used in some classes because they are better all round than the Duratec when tuned.....
-
ford engine would be more expensive for me tho as i'd have to buy retail
i can get new VAG, honda and zuki engines and meany tuneing parts at very favorable prices also ex test engines can get diverted from the trip to the skip on a regular basis. hence why diffrent engine considerations to the normal.
as for useing a turbo lump, it's not ideal but it's quick easy and cheep as there is proably enough power avalible from a relativly std motor , so when it pops can just trow another in and job done. i love NA engines but i allways get carried away when building them and just dont have enough spare time build a decent engine properly atm a good motor chould easy swallow 100 hours to build that i don't have

Skyline r33 gtst or Nissan 200sx s14a and lots of money left over to modify
