Yes, only just finished it aswell :-(
-
I wonder if they thought it was a GTI or an R, it certainly looks better than a GT TDI. Sorry to hear about this, its sad when these people come and take things that your hard work and money has paid for.
-
Lovely looking car. Shame the robbing bastards can't go out & work for nice things like decent people do. Makes my piss boil when i read about things like this happening.
-
Really sorry to hear about this latest loss to one uf us MK6'ers. If it's any consolation your car looks drop dead georgeous and it should be easily recognisable.

Surely they wouldn't be that stupid?
-
pretty strange coincidence!

A clock fell of the wall in the early hours of the morning in the kitchen last night. The glass panel of the clock smashed on the tiled flooring. It was in the early hours of the morning and I was convinced the noise was someone smashing a window trying to break in.
Lets just say I was mighty relieved when I sprinted downstairs only to find it was only the clock fallen ( a cheap clock as well ). It certainly got the adrenaline pumping!
It made we wonder what is the best thing to do if someone was actually breaking in. The only thing I was armed with last night when I ran downstairs was my mobile phone to dial the police. Invest in a baseball bat?

His history looks a bit suss aswell!?
Sound systems, speakers, ladies purse, amplifier, touch screen monitor!!
Maybe looking into too much, but still looks odd

Hate to hear of this sort of thing going on. The scary emerging trend now is that they don't even have to get into the house or take keys. Some relatively simple electonic stuff and they can get away in a matter of minutes, very quietly.
Detritus.

I’m always worried someone tries to get into the house. Have a stereo that costs the same as a new GTI. So got extra locks put on our patio doors and have the lower part of the house alarmed when everyone is in bed. Also thinking of installing video cameras.
I work away from home so want to make sure the family is safe

Not much more you can do than that. I've got a couple of decent dummy videos camera's installed at my house (one round the back of the house and one at the front looking of the front door/driveway). They even come with a red light on them to make them look like they are powered on

Place a landmine under the doormat, And arm the wife with automatic weapons. Should do the job just nicely
-
Dummy camara is a great idea especially with a red light showing.

I have my alarm set every night when I'm in bed - full lower floor and garage.
Hell, I often alarm the garage individually when I'm in the house watching a film with the noise cranked up!
Monitored alarms, bell/siren boxes, cameras etc are great at making the scum move on to an easier target.
But, if the scum are prepared to break into your house, find your bedroom and threaten you, to get your car keys...they know they can get in, get the keys/car and get out before Plod rocks up
All you can do is make it as hard for them as possible.

So many parts for sale from a GTI at moment,
4 18" Monza's with tyres off a mk6 for sale at moment, Wonder how they were aquired
-
A big fcuk off dog does for me.
The only draw back is, a few delivery drivers have stopped halfway up the drive when they see the dog growling and going ballistic behind the glass door and they do an about turn and deliver to my neighbours instead, claiming I wasn't in

Wheels are the easiest to explain...mine have done less than 15 miles from new...so they'll be going up for sale at some point - and perfectly genuine.
Grilles, bumpers, seats etc, perhaps more suspicious.

If you mean the monzas we had for sale? we carried out a caractere conversion for a client and he upgraded to 19" VMR wheels. :-)

This works for me too. Clip the keys to a Bullmastiffs colar and no-ones coming near!

Whilst those are all good ideas, I'd get a Revo SPS switch or a bluefin and lock the ECU out, even with the keys they ain't going anywhere.

I think the car still starts with the sps lock out but stays on tickover, so you will be able to walk down the street after it, with a baseball bat in hand of course

Big f**k off dog is how we used to roll when we lived in the sh!tty north!
Also, would the whole engine cut out thing not just piss off a thief an make them likely to come back in for other things or you, to start it?

I'm sorry where we're all these Mk6's stolen from? Was it dear old Newbury? Windsor? Adams beloved Yeovil? No! Was the sh!tty north!
And you couldn't live down here, our houses cost money, not Buttons.
That was the norths redeeming feature for the hellish 6 months I spent there.

I live somewhere between the two, but I have to say whenever I save the misfortune to have to head south, I'm counting down the hours until it's time to head back home.

Doubt we'd want a moron like you up here anyway. We in the North are choosy who we want to share our space with and snotty little southerners like you are definitely not welcome.

He or she thinks he is better than everyone else because he is from the south and yet he has old bangers and a $hit L200.What a clown

Golf Mk6 GTI / GTD get stolen for fun round near leeds
thiers some gangs of Asians that are doing the rounds.. they even offered my mate who owns the bodyshop that painted my Car £500 for locations of any GTI or GTD's
-
Ahahahhaha!
Aww have I upset the kings and queens of the Mk6 universe?
Come on people, learn a bit about sarcasm and banter, I own what I own plus a bit more, but this is the internet, I don't do web willy waving.
I really dislike the north for what happened to me and my family there, and you might be choosy about who you share your space with but the northrners that work for me certainly don't seem to mind taking my money for their wages?
Yeah, I'm a clown, and I drive bangers?
EDIT - not wanting to clog the thread, Gizzy and carl1 you have PM - play nicely!
-

No sh!t you from Newbs?
-
Randomjord hmm dont do willy waving?????????? your basically saying your house is worth a lot more than northerners and how do you know im not being sarcastic and banter about your old bangers
P.s i was not joking about the L200
-
well..... i thought you knew bout house prices and the north/south divide, BBC website gives these examples of a northern place, and a southern place
South Yorkshire
Average house price
£137,486
Detached £224,601
Semi-detached £123,785
Terrace £102,276
Flat £113,248
West Berkshire
Average house price
£319,418
Detached £478,072
Semi-detached £272,407
Terrace £210,788
Flat £157,963
And the BBC never lie!
You could be being sarcastic but to personally insult me, saying im a clown, and i drive bangers, is kind of direct, rather than a generalisation. L200's been replaced to be fair, but staying for work and snow duties cos it cant be faulted for that!
Lets have a cuddle
**EDIT - no one ever asked where i lived in the (sh!tty) north that i considered sh!tty, you may very well agree with me! **

And there aren't these scenarios in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow etc. etc.? I t doesn't matter where you live, there'll be some scroat wanting to pinch whatever nice things you have from you. So you take as many precautions as you can (garaged, steering wheel lock etc. etc.) and pay for comprehensive insurance.
As for the north/south argument there are many lovely places down south but you couldn't pay me any money in the world to live down there, London in particular. It just seems to take forever to get anywhere and everyone's so busy and unfriendly. My (northern) mate lived in Basingstoke for three years, for example, in a semi-detached and his neighbour never once even said hello.

Probably Horney or A7 UFO, unsociable cnuts!
see i was the other way around, in the north we were treated like outsiders because we are southern, lived in quite a nice area, an look different (tattoos an the like), i liked the friendly people in the shops (didnt like that i had to drive to sheffield to get to the good shops!) I also like the roads in the countryside! But i never felt welcome in any pub or in the neighbourhood. So, back here but retained interests in ze north! (i have to, the inlaws live there!!)
-
Randomjord i live somewhere in the middle and everyone is different, i dont find being called a clown offensive but i do find people slagging off where i live very offensive and personal.
-
Youre a middler? than ive not even offended you yet! ........thats my midlands file
-
^^^^ sort of, most southerners class anyone above them as northerners besides there is nothing on the tv that interests me and im board
-
Well I'm off out to the little chef, keep me informed of any further north south developments, I'll check in later!

I am from Sunny Newbury yeah
With regards to Norf / Sarf debate. I couldn't care less where anyone lives, what they do for a living, how much they earn this forum is full of people from all different places and we get on (normaly) very well, talking sh1t about cars.

That's interesting but not massively surprising. I think Northerners are generally very friendly to all people but the ones they're most likely to be suspicious of are southerners. Having said that, amongst all my friends, the ones who get the most ribbing are Lancastrians for obvious reasons. All good natured banter of course
-
West Berkshire
Semi-detached £272,407
Terrace £210,788
210,000 for a Terrace and 272 for semi, You guys must be clowns paying that to live there.
-
Where you live is where you live innit, tried the north an yeah, by comparison my house in Yorkshire compare to here was a bloody palace! Felt like a lottery winner looking at houses up there.
Depressing when we came back an instead of looking at beautiful farmhouses with garages, it's 3 bed semis! But the main reasons for being here are business led, the driving an trains
Where a hassle when most of my business is southern based.
Sometimes just can't justify all the hassle for the same of a bigger house!

Probably couldn't speak English like most of the population down south. Ask them the time in polish, greek, Arabic or turkish and they could answer no bother.

Agree. Don't know what the feck this has got to do with someone's car getting stolen.
-
Well it started because I made a comment about the north, and everyone past Oxford got there arse out of joint.
It wasn't meant to that but then personal comments where made, mostly resolved.
You all take everything very personally, and without humour
So best of luck with finding the car/parts!
