Basic IT knowledge required, lots of on the job training, must know how to install Windows, software, hardware and some d
Good communication skillz and know how to take the piss and have the piss taken out of you
Not the best salary but it's not going to be a high pressure job, good/fun working environment too with some fun clients (obv. some not so fun).
PM me if interested and I'll give you the contact details for my company

What level of it skills we talking here jay, i could use a 9-5 job!!

The main thing tbh is telephone skills, not being shy on the phone and really just to setup PC's, diagnose problems with PC's, internet and applications etc
Do you know how to setup a PC, install software and fix problems when they occur?
-
Sounds like a job for me
Cos you only need to know two things to do
1. Turn it off and back on again
2. Hammer time

doesn't particularly matter if you've been trained to or not, as long as you've got a good head on you and can figure stuff out or know how Google works you'll be fine

Bloody hell it's a junior level job that pays, I thought everyone just got placement students for free these days?!?! Then wonder why they can't find experienced higher level staff!
-
free? hahaha.
The IT colleges round here want £230 a WEEK, £90 of which goes to the student and the rest the college pocket as a 'fee' for having trained the bod :undecided: Might as well just employ someone with no training and that's into computers for the same or a bit more !

I'd do it if it was more local not oxford
Surprised there's not many volunteers, how hard is it to tell people to press f1, f2 or del to enter bios set the boot order and then the magic windows cd will boot or will say "press any key to launch". Then installing PCI, AGP, PCI-E, HDD etc... is all easy, its like lego either the part fits or it doesn't, all the molex's have a set shape and with sata life has becomes easier with no need to play with jumpers to set CS MA or SL...

Not a show off, just give it a go at building a computer once, once you've done it you will be surprised how easy it is, especially when things nowadays have simplified somewhat, I remember when you use to have no standardized layout on front USB ports, each motherboard had a slightly different pin arrangement and you had to plug in 8-9 wires manually depending on the layout, then you had jumpers on the cd drives and hard drives with the IDE interface. Now usb is standardized with a set layout, with SATA there are no jumpers to adjust. Really old motherboards where a bundle of joys, they had so many jumpers that you would mistake it for a fire alarm panel.
Wish I could just relocate, but I only just got a mortgage a few months back. But I wouldn't mind working for a company with a future, being contracted the the court service's sucks donkey!

It really is easy money for the level they want and the company is getting bigger all the time! We've already got an old co-worker back in January AND looking for the new
coffee b!tch 1st level tech
I remember when you had to manually assign the IRQ & DMA on ye oldé ISA cards via jumpers and match your config.sys to your jumper settings and the CD-ROM could connect to the sound card using the IDE ribbon cable because some machines didn't have enough on-board IDE ports :embarassed: Them were the days

Sent you a pm Jay to find out a bit more about job, I've only become 22 recently so I don't go that way back, but I use to pick up old machines for fun and fiddle with them, I remember some of the cr@p I put xp on

Plus PC 800 ram would be a million pounds to buy, and a SCSI drive was cool with 8GB
