Believe it or not people keep parking on my private driveway.
At the moment, I have a Mercedes ML and a 59 plate 911 on my drive.
What's the first thing to do?
I can't block it off in any way.
-
I've left notes on cars before saying "This is my private drive please use the free, safe, empty car park directly opposite. Thanks, Jack."
-
Park directly in front of their cars so they cannot get off your drive and when they ask you to move politely ask them not to park there again.
-
What Deano said
-
If I were to park my car behind them I'd be on double yellows.
Besides, it's not repeat offenders. I've had a Lamborghini Gallardo spider and a RR phantom recently too.
-
Just stick a clamp on
-
Is it legal? Because that would be a nice bit of income.
-
Damn...
Some of the guilty parties:

Managed to get these moved by asking in the restaurant next door whose cars they were.
-
Bloody hell! What kind of a restaurant do you live next door to?
-
Hate to break it to you but they are parked on the road. Unless you are the queen that ain't your driveway.
-
Picture was taken after I had them moved.
I didn't make that very clear when I posted the pics.
I took a picture of a Ferrari actually on my drive. I'll go find it.
-

Do pay attention.

Keep taking pictures and post them up on Flickr with the numberplates clearly visible, tagged with an accurate description. Maybe even put a sign up promising that you will do this. Let the restaurant know you will do this. This will probably reduce the number of flash c*nts parking on your drive.

let the tyres down? have a poo on it? :lipsrsealed:
-
reverse of your drive into one of the very expensive cars....

-
Could you try parking you car there instead?
-
I usually have the land cruiser parked there unless I've taken it to work.
I need it free really to take deliveries in. This is the problem.

Buy a smashed up sports car spray paint on it saying this is what happened when someone wouldn't stop parking on my drive! Soon as people see smashed up cars trust me they won't go near it fear factor!

Oh but i did. The pictures were not tagged with having already had the car(s) moved.

sit on the bonnet and have a fag
-
Happens to me all the time.
If you block them in you are breaking the law, well if a traffic warden see's you he will ticket you as I found out to my peril.
Took a lot of negotiation to get him to take it off, lucky I saw him outside and ran out.
Blocking them in causes confrontations, anyone who is cheeky enough to park on someones drive is pretty verbose when they told where to park their cars
I use a 3/4 square marker pen to write on their windscreen some sort of "get orf my land" message.
Usually its some mum taking her kids to the dentist down the road, who drives off breaking the law with an obscured windscreen :lipsrsealed:
-
You cant clamp them but you can use a company such as http://www.nationalparkingcontrol.co.uk/self.asp
I have done this on a car park I own. Scares the shizzel out of most people into not parking there. The ones that do you can get the company to persue a claim of £60 against them providing you have pictures and follow their instrustions. I have never been down this route as its more as a deterrent really. However should the company be successful you get £15 or something for your troubles.
With some of the cars that seem to park there your driveway could prove to be a little goldmine
-
Fck me thats awesome, I'm going to do it for the management co on the flats i live in, we could actualy earn some cash from it
-
Seriously mate, put a fence up and gates!!
-
I can't, from 8:30 until 5:30 my shop is open.
I'll probably go with what R32UK said. I can't do any of the stuff I would like to do as it'd discredit the business.
-
It cost about £100 to sign up and for that you get the signs, an online account, a badge to show you are authorised to give tickets (which you dont have to wear unless you are confronted) and a book of tickets and wallets to put them in.
I see this company cover quite a few sites now around the country.... so I also keep some in my glove box in case I have to do some emergency parking of my own :lipsrsealed:
-
take one of their wheels off and charge them to get it back.
what shop do you run / own?
-
Cheers R32UK will look into it!
It's just a little Hardware/Ironmongers Archie.
-
Unauthorised presence on your land is trespassing. This is a civil matter, so "Trespassers will be prosecuted" signs are incorrect.
You should erect a sign saying "Private land. No parking. No trespassing".
If people ignore this. Leave a polite note explaining that they are trespassing on private land. If they continue to do so you will sue them in the County Court for a sum equivalent to a fee for the use of the land.
Make a note of times, dates and registration details and descriptions of the driver. CCTV or pics would be better.
You also, unfortunately, owe a duty of care to these trespassers. So giving them a kicking or damaging their car is a big NO NO.
PM me for any more.
Jonathan.
-
Cheers Johnathan. Appreciate the help will let you know as it develops!
-
This parking fine firm, isn't it private therefore can just be ignored? :undecided:
-

Yes. Private firms can't get your details from the DVLA to persue anything either.

Private firms can buy the info from the DVLA.
However it is a civil matter.

how about one of those posts that fold up or down, and that can be locked in the up position with a padlock when you are not there?
failing that, poo on a stick wiped under the door handle works a treat
-
yeah, you can buy those met posts with the white plastic chains that are just hooked on. simple and effective
-
I've thought about that before... I'll look at making one up.
-
I get nobs parking across my driveway entrance at home every sunday, people visiting the church. So if I have a visitor, they can't park on my drive. Was a major problem for me when I had two cars, which I will do again soon. I left a note on their window, a polite one and watched them screw it up and throw it in the street, so I went out and had a go at them. f**king church goers should know better.

That would give me rage

Eh? The most self-righteous and sanctimonious people in society should know better? They do. They know better than you.
-
Just be glad you don't live near a school the parking attendants hide until the mothers drop them off then slap the tickets on there screens
The only real solution I've seen is to dig two holes drop a metal bollard with locks fill with cement. Pain in the arse when you want to just drive in and out though! :lipsrsealed:
-
Have you thought about paint?
Or use a fence/ wall then maybe people will see that the land is yours and would then be reluctant to park there...
Most driveways you see are a different colour to the pavements,
If you made it obvious, and took ownership of the land then hopefully people would stop parking there.
Good luck!
-
Electric bollard?? I love my remote garage doors!!!

I like this idea.
In the middle of the parking space.
'whoops, you seem to have ripped the underside of your expensive sports car out on the bollard in my parking space as you were leaving. Guess you somehow missed it driving on to my land'

Why not paint a Disabled Sign on your drive?

Why not paint a Disabled Sign on your drive?
If he did, he's be breaking the law, and liable for a very large fine.

On a private drive?
-
people driving those sorts of cars wont give a sh!t about any little threat of a fine. Folding bollard or small chain would be best.

He can paint whatever he wants on his drive! I would suggest painting it up to look like a massive puddle.

which is why you should go with the managed car parking company. you would make a small fortune and would require little effort from yourself

Gate?
pay attention

Going on this idea put a sign advertising the breaking of exotic super cars. Might make them think twice :smug:

Then I'd still get all the bastard Fiestas and Focuses...
I'm looking into a remote activated electric bollard at the moment.

OR.
You could buy a £50 car of ebay and park it there. Then just move it forward when you want to park on the drive behind it.
If its your drive wouldnt need any tax/mot/insurance.
Would be cheaper than a bollard and you could sign write it as required.
Could even call it a "project" car..
-
^^ Depending on state of car it may require a winch / push but this would be cheaper than gym membership also.
Double win?

not really... he needs the parking space for customers during the day

Ah i see.
I havnt read the full thread to be fair. Thought it was a space on his personal drive at home.

hire a hoodrat to loiter outside you're shop. "watch your car for 40 quid" either that or just pop into restaurant, "who's ferrari did i just drive into? i'm really sorry but i dont have insurance"
if you're an architectural ironmongers, wouldn't it be awful if a customer dropped a 25kg box of nails and spilt them all over your drive.
facebooking pictures of the owners and car parked on your drive might deter them, especially if you start a group "prattish parking" or something.
