I also rung up on behalf of my mate for his lcr to be booked in after one of his went, it turns out that there wasn't a recall on his, they explained that whilst his one was of the older lot but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a recall on his because apparently the problem came on earlier models.

I wonder if Seat will sort out my Leon Cupra then if thats the case with the Mk4 as my coil packs are starting to fail intermittently.

Given them a call and they should be able to tell whether you have any outstanding recalls on your vehicle from the registration/vin
They basically told my mate there wasn't any outstanding so he had to pay for his coilpacks, I bought mine a few months earlier and only had to pay £23 each whereas I believe they are now in excess of £30 each

I think its worth a shot no matter what engine code.

I literally just went on the vw website, found the nearest 5/6 garages to me, went on contact details and emailed them. Only 2 replied and one replied telling me to book it in, so I think it is a bit hit and miss.

Had an email back today from my local Seat dealer who said

''I have checked and confirmed that your vehicle does fall with the chassis range to carry out the ignition coil insepction, depending on the findings we may or may not replace the ignition coil packs''.

So will basically need to book an appointment and take it there for them to test them. My car has just turned 100k and aint been running too great recently despite its maticulous maintenace especially from cold and also logs the odd missfire now and then so hopefully they find something wrong with them.

Mine was sorted :)

Got there, got hand delivered a hot chocolate, they replaced all 4 coilpacks then washed and hoovered it.

Top service!

It always used to be mainly AUM/AUQ but I'm sure people on here with AGU have had them done as well. It's worth phoning and asking to see.

Emailed VW today about mine, but I found in the receipts I have that the previous owner replaced them in april with GSF ones, so will VW swap them if they are not genuine?

Car went into VW last week. Picked up at night and coil packs were NOT changed. They said I had the new ones on already.

Still...I would have liked a set of new packs :)

I called Leeds VW and they said there wasn't a recall on my x reg aum.....

I've now moved down to Windsor and tried the maidenhead dealers 10 minutes ago, they already called back to book me in Thursday

So I am guessing Leeds VW didn't want to do it for free

That's also a 2002 AUM model

I kept the good ones, and managed to get this one running, so will take it easy till I get to Scarborough.
