So we all up for this again? 16 car grids should mean probably only 1 championship instead of two this time.
Nick
-
Should be. Can't do mondays though.
-
I'll make the effort to play, I won't organise though.
-
FFS, am I going to have to buy the bloody thing?
-
Can i get in on this?
-
Ill be in for a bit of that
-
I'm up for it
-
count me in if it's on a monday or a wednesday!
-
im in

So then, bog standard MKII 16v's, no mods allowed except changing the wheel design and livery.
Will kick this off in November to give people a chance to get used to the game and sort a livery. Dates TBC.
Get your names down. First come, first served.

Sweet!! Il get designing
-
does that mean non stock alloys then?
because you cant chage rim size of std alloys
I made a typo, you can change rim design, but has to stay stock size.
Nick
-
Why are you changing the rims?
Keep it truely stock, lock the cars to how they are mechanically in the options and just stickers etc allowed.
-
I thought rims allows people to pick stuff they like and it doesn't make much difference to the car handling.
Nick
-
Do they not change the weights then like in 2&3? I.E. you can choose some different rims exactly the same size etc but they will be ~5-10lbs lighter each.
-
Yeah they do, but do you think that'll make that much difference? I can make all standard if it's an issue.
Nick
-
god you are fussy
Defending Champ init!
-
Changes the P.I number though doesn't it?
I'm not going to cry over it, but if we are racing stock....
Ha ha, you better believe it. I'm practising my clutch control
-
OK. Slick as defending champ you're in charge of testing. Try a stock car with different rims and see if you notice any difference with your lap times and report back.
Until them, rims stock only.
Nick
-
Assists are pretty much free. THink we just restricted auto brake and braking line only on the last one.
Nick
-
I edit my post, but you'll be fine.
Nick
-
Hope there is a mk2 in the club garage I can borrow.
Any idea of track you want to start on?
-
Count me in, I'll try not to use everyone to rebound off and knock them off the track
Last time I got halfway through the championship then xbox died, this time I have a super elite lets hope this lasts!
-
I was terrible, if someone had a nice gap ahead on the tight bend up ahead I'd fly into them with the handbrake, they end up on the grass and I end up in the right direction. Or I'd fishtail them
-
Just a quick check.
Changing your rims can be a weight loss of up to 36lbs. and P.I. increases up 4 points. E243 -> E247
I'll bang a few laps in on "La Guna Seca" now see what the deal is.
-
Standard 01:54.417 - clean
Non Stock Wheels 01:53.213 - clean
Not perfect laps but reasonably close, so around a second a lap (possibly more if you nail a good one).
Meh - Whatever.
-
got my car sorted

on stock wheels :afro:
-
Indeed, stock it is.
Nick
-
I'd say fully stock, only decals/visuals allowed otherwise the PI makes it complicated, as I could get heavier wheels and enlarge the wheel size, then sneak a mod in and it will look reasonable in the PI table as I may be +/- 3 out, just the wheel thing adds complication IMO. Really need to learn to use the clutch otherwise there is no chance off keeping up with manual gear changes in a stock car.

Oh aye, Dolly is actually defending champ.
The A4 season was not my strong one, roly poly at maple valley was my downfall

Can I make the suggestion that we do allow some mods to the stock Gti's: Fully upgraded clutch, flywheel, gearbox and driveshafts. It makes the cars so much nicer to drive and the gearbox ratios on the golf are a bit pap as stock. It will also allow a wee bit of tunability to the cars to suit different tracks.
-
Count me in. I'm about to go get the Xbox, will join the club garage and all that this evening after I stettle in a bit
-
@DOA - Then golf-sib's point comes in to play, what if people don't bother with clutch/flywheel etc upgrades and just go for power increases? It would be easy to then just power past people regardless of what the gearbox and ratios were like.
For a truely level playing field forced stock everything bar gear selection choice (manual w/clutch, manual, auto) is the only way.
I'm sure after this we will be opening it up to just doing class battles like previously i.e. A class etc.
Oh and Horne, are we stipulating difficulty? I.E. simulation everything - steering, braking, damage, tyre wear etc and just having gear selection as the option?
-
I tin kassists can be free because some people (Vodka boy for example) like their ABS. I think tyre and damge will be on though to try and keep things clean. Steering can be SIM or not, up to the individual.
I'll write up a full list of the rules tomorrow night and post them up.
Anyone up for a pre season warm up @ 9pm on wednesday?

That sucks im not in on Wednesday
-
I'm up for Wednesday 9pm. Prefer the stock idea as I remember the A and B class races where pants, people that where tuning there cars correctly got such an advantage, others where more handicapped, I realised later on how the lads that concentrated on displacement mods had a better hand. prefer the idea off leaving cars stock, if we open up higher class races I would also prefer stock, just use better cars like r8 or TT rs etc...
-
Oh yeah, no way should we be allowing modded cars. The best racing we had was the Audi S4 champ we did when we all had the same car, was great stuff.
-
wednesday at 9pm i can do!
-
wednesday is good
-
I'll be on Wednesday too

Wednesday is good for me.

me too

Then you would have to limit the gear changes to manual without clutch as with clutch it gives the user a much faster lap time than someone with just manual gears. Not everyone can use the clutch in this game and the people who do have an advantage
-
I say we all use pagani zonda's
No slow manual shifts then
-
i think cars should all be stock/equal. Driver assists down to the individual.

But then again if someone using manual/clutch forgets to use their clutch for a change then they can get engine damage whereas someone with only manual can't. I'd say that evens it out.
Also, in real life racing, you can't stop someone changing gear faster than someone else. In real life one person might decide to flat shift while another doesn't. It's up to the individual and therefore more realistic.
-
I say assists should be down to the individual. Especially when the clutch is in a rubbish place now for when braking.
-
We still on for 9pm tonight for a trial run?
-
Yup, see othe rpost in this section!
-
Put me down for some championship action. What time is it on a monday? Unfortunately cant make it tonight, midweek pub quiz FTW
-

I'll be on tonight nick. :)
Seein' as "Shady hits-you-in-the-rear" is playing, make sure the damage simulation is turned off.

-
I'm round hers tonight so if I suddenly disappear its because she's gotten sh!tty and turned the Xbox off.
-
it said on a message that you quit the club..
-
whens this kicking off? anymore pre-season races?
-
Whens the championship actually starting, tonight?
-
No it'll start in November. I'm just in the process of looking at circuits and a provisional calendar. Will get a proper post up over the weekend.
As another pre-season race meet I'd be well up for it. Just need to find a night I can kick the Mrs out.
Nick
-
So no pre race tonight?
Just give the miss a doing and bucket and tell her to clean the car!
I know what you mean, I just bought a 2nd telly a while back to stop the misses hogging Xbox time, instead its worked against me as the hassle off unplugging it with the connect and replugging it when she wants to play connect in living room makes it a pain.
Be good to get a pre race tonight.
-
Im up for tonight
-
I'll see if I can persuade her to watch telly in the bedroom from 9pm, but you don't guys don't need me to organise it. Just go for it and if I can get on I will.
Nick
-
Tonight it good for me too, although not too late as I've got a job interview early tomorrow morning.
