A mint 20VT 2002 plate in tornado red to be more specific. It's newer, safer, more comfortable.. but just not that fun.
But I want a MK2 again.
the Mrs is going mad, what do you guys reckon?
-
more power and a good suspension setup, arb, bushes etc
-
yeah, but I dunno - It's nice. It's just not a MK2. It's an AUM engine code, and I've been quoted 210bhp from a map.
I just keep looking at MK2's and drooling.

should have got a mint mk2, wish i did but i had to think sensibly and tbh the mk4s are safer, newer more techy but ive always wanted a mk2 but had to be sensible
-
I'm thinking of swapping with cash my way.
The thing is, with more techy and newer cars comes more expensive repairs and less DIY mechanics.
I just <3 MK2's and miss mine
-
All in same boat wish i didn't sell my mk2 to get my last mk4 too.
-
Are you serious? Youve been trying to sell the mk3 and get a mk4 for ages!!
Then again, I really didnt like my mk4, so boring. :lipsrsealed:
Shouldve stuck with the mk3 mate.

I think this serves as a timely reminder to all those thinking of selling their Mk3 in favour of a Mk4.................DONT!

Exactly!!
I will get another mk3 at some point. Might try a 16v next time or a VR if funds allow.

Oh no, I prefer it to the MK3. Just not the MK2.

Is than on an unrelated topic, or because you want a mk2?!
A remap for a bit more poke may liven things up a bit, is that a 180bhp engine is it? I suppose it should be good for a giggle as is though....
Strip the sound deadening out, that'll make it more like a mk2, and thus more fun!

AUM is 150bhp. Get it remapped and see how you get on. All MK4s need to remapped.
You sound genuinely devastated at your lack of MK2, I feel for you.

If you don't want a faster car you mean. After a remap, bags of torque.

Thing is, a mk4 needs £100's spending straight away on a remap and suspension to get it to feel even slightly GTI'ish. Even then its always gonna be seriously characterless unless you spend £100's more on more personal mods.

mines awesome and would never get rid
ive had mk2, and 2 mk3,s and the mk4 beats them in every way hands down
