After upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard some people have reported issues, the way round it is either fresh install Snow Leopard or Lion (after backing up your sh!t first ofc).

Lets face it Lion is not together just yet needs more time for updates ?
-
Ah right.. must be because your trying to run a older version.. iv had no issues at all. so don't see why it needs more updates unless I'm just lucky lol
-
updates? pah! You're having a giraffe! Apple does NOT give a sh!t about your old software and why should they? In fact they don't really care about many third party programs, even Quick Books has had to sort their lives out. They were using Rosetta to run their program on the new Macs because it was out dated and originally written for the OLD Power PC architecture, lucky for them Apple provided Rosetta in the first place, Quick Books never did rewrite their program to conform to the new architecture and relied on Rosetta to do the translation and too run it - oops that was pulled from Lion and screwed over lots of users
Moral of the story is to check that your old software will run on a Mac (or Windows even) if it's using a newer operating system to what you currently are, same goes for upgrading, check the website for all your main software packages. It's something most people take for granted on Windows because it's so backwards compatible for most things and generally it will just work.

Moral of the story is stop running old software & get yourself up to date

Lion is still unstable yet anyway

That's great in theory  Problem is that some software costs thousands and it's damned costly to just upgrade the OS and then all software that doesn't run because of the upgrade, So you're left with loosing money from the downtime in reinstalling Snow Leopard and the old software's or loosing money by upgrading the OS and all software's that require a new version  oh and then you realize you've just upgraded the OS and purchased all new versions of the software you use, install most of it then find one of the important packages still doesn't run
-
Personally not had any issues with any purchased software myself or any issues of it being unstable.

any version other than the lastest of MS Office for Mac was using PPC code and since Lion no longer supports PPC code then all software that was written for PPC will no longer work. That includes Bejeweled 2.
If you are using Snow Leopard and want to find out what programs you are using are PPC then go to the Apple in the Finder bar (top left of the screen) - ABOUT THIS MAC - MORE INFO. On the left hand side look for SOFTWARE - APPLICATIONS. There is a column called KIND. This is where you wil see if your favourite software is either PPC or Intel. If it's PPC then it won't work in Lion.
