yes

I was recommended by Nick to vent the arch liner behind the intercooler and also to keep the funnel on the front of it too as this will impact on the cooling. I'm running 225bhp with mine. I'm only changing to a FMIC as I got it relatively cheap

They are very good quality and a lot of the diesel boys are running them over on ukmkivs

What vents do you use n wheel arch???

you can use the ones off a tt, or make your own.

wazzer, when i look the funnel was blocking a fair bit of the ic, did nick test to see the benefits of keeping it? either way i suppose its too late as mines in a tip somewhere now

The vent in the wheel arch, i got from b&q £4.99 . ill cut a square hole and black silcon it with 4 pop rivets holding it on. I got the idea from looking at a newer car when i was painting car park markings at work.

It's to do with channelling the air to the cooler and then allowing it to escape. There is a bit of theory behind it ie low and high pressure points creating voids bit it's a lot to try and explain.

The main reason for it is the air hitting the front of the cooler is not very efficient without the means to escape. Also with the funnel you are forcing the air to hit the IC and not just glance off

I remember autospeed adding a vent to the wheel arch, it did F all. Reason being was the vent design was not efficient enough in improving air flow and it had no effect on the pressure under the arch which is what they where testing and measuring in the experiment, instead they decided to use a FMIC do to a bigger access of inlet air flow on a pd engine which are far more on boost than our engines, have a read:

I don't reckon that grille is big enough, I would just put  load of approx 20mm holes in it and leave it at that

That's what I did on mine, took the arch liner off and drilled through like a mad man, now running a FMIC and its a huge improvement when hammering it non stop

It needs an extra pipe to fit to a TDI due to the push fit connections. PM old_no7 (Neil) on here or on ukmkivs and he might be able to help you out with what you need to purchase
