Ive bought myself a black rear view mirror that I'm planning on putting in the car, but I just wanted to ask, is there a technique to removing the original mirror? :undecided:
I replaced my rear view on my Mk3, n was soon on the phone to AutoGlass
Risky job, possibly. Worthy mod, definitely!!
I took a pic of the clip to refresh people's memories

Note to anyone doing this mod, turn the base 90' anti clockwise, n it will plop off

hey, I'm looking to do this, at the risk of sounding dumb, what are the steps? I'm not even sure how it's held on :p

Thread revival!
As mentioned, and pictured, grab hold of the base, and tentatively twist it 90'. It will pop off clockwise or anti clockwise, but it must twist 90'. Some are a right b!tch, and will crack your screen regardless!

The scuttle cover needs to be removed and is very tight, the guy @ Skoda told me that even they have cracked screens trying.
