There is often talk of some of us lot in this section meeting up to talk mk6 specific stuff, tomatoes and homosexuality; so how about Castle Combe on 8th October? Audi Driver International http://www.audidriverinternational.co.uk/ is the event.
My Silver mk6 got a bit of heart surgery at that event a couple of years ago, no plans to do this one though (skint!) but the event is a good one, nice and relaxed off track and run by the same people as GTI International. It's a lot smaller event than Inters so is easy to get round.
Jim and I met up at one of their events a few months back and had a good natter and got piss wet! Met a few guys from the rest of the forum too and had a really good day.
Track action features all manner of VAG stuff and there's usually demo passenger rides available too.
This is obviously put in the mk6 section rather than the meets section because some of us have mk6 specific things to talk about but obviously some of the global mods will get arsey about it but I've shoved another thread in the meets section too as it'd be good to meet as many forumites as possible. :smiley:

Only 20 minutes down the road,
If a pre arrival meet is on the cards a good meeting place is the Cross Hands pub at Old Sodbury on the A46 towards Stroud just off M4 J18 huge car park and 5 / 10 minutes from the circuit.

I debated it, but back to back weekends driving from East Anglia three hours for Audi day and then GTI Fest really didn't seem that appealing, so i'll be saving my trip for GTI fest on the 16th :evil:

Some nice Audis there, a few mk6 GTIs and lots of good track action.
A7s are fugly. Nearly all big Audis look identical, much prefer VWs to Audis.

Sorry to hear about your bad news though, hope it isn't anything too serious. I'd assumed something unpleasant must've cropped up for you not to be at the event.

Did anyone have a look at the cars in the show and shine/concouse. A friend of a friend entered his red A5, but was told by the judges that it was too new to be considered for any silver wear. However, should he wish to contribute a few quid...

I went to this and had extensive track action, great atmosphere. I was in a Grey 3 door mark 6 and spent most of my day either on track or on the Milltek stand. I was really impressed with the Mk6 handling but more specifically the AP racing BBK which performed flawlessly throughout

What other mods do you have as apart from the exhaust and brakes? I'm guessing stage 2 software and suspension mods?

I have stage 2+ revo software and an ITG intake but no suspension mods, this was this cars first outing so was pleasantly surprised with how sorted the GTi chasis is, car felt strong all day long and good for the claimed 275bhp. A happy return to GTi ownership after 5 years :)

It looked pretty good going into the corners for a standard road car. You can obviously quickly spot the cars with track day set ups as they hardly roll at all through the bends but your mk6 looked comfortable enough through the chicanes. I'm surprised its 100% stock. You must be a good driver!! :laugh:

The car felt much firmer than I expected it to, but always difficult to tell as I don't really push it off track so it gets a gentle pampering for the majorityof its use.
I was running a set of Monzas off E-bay with my old Bridgestones on so was more than happy to use the kerbs in an attempt to take the straightest/shortest route through the twisty bits. :evil:
Prior to the event I was planning on fitting an uprated rear ARB but for now I'm leaving it standard, I have another outing planned on November 4th at Oulton park where I've been several times before in either quattro or RWD cars so this will be a good test bed for the GTi's handling. :grin:

Combe is a very quick circuit though so it will be interesting how you get on with other tracks. Keep us informed!!
