Anyone else got it / fancy a game?
Its pretty good so far, takes some getting used to as its not COD but once you get the swing of things its pretty good. So much more team based than COD.

Yeah, I had MOH. Didnt even know there was a BETA but got an email yesterday from DICE with a redemption code and downloaded it today. Looking forward to the full thing now.

Dare I say it but all these videos that I've seen (from a PC) have left me a bit disappointed with the XBOX graphics, I was expecting a bit more. I assume the graphics in this BETA will be the same as the final release as it's only around the corner?

I'd imagine you're going to be stuck with what you've got the xbox and PS3 are both well behind the PC and that's meant to be the lead platform.
I played the game in the alpha and on the PC it looks as good as the promotional videos.

I feel a little let down playing this on the Xbox 360. Have been pumped up for this game for months now, but the graphics are not as amazing as I thought they would be and so so so many bugs and glitches in the beta..yes I know it is a beta, but with only a matter of weeks to go , I hope they can sort them all out. Not to mention the wonderful EA servers.
Main problem is the map and game mode though, I would of released the beta with a bigger, outside map and better game mode.

no different from playing BC2 just with loads more bugs and slightly better graphics, they should have done a different map from the alpha or at least a different game mode.
I'm 99% not buying as after playing the ArmA series and RO2 it plays like a kids game.

Seems the general mood on most game forums too.
The problem Dice and EA have , if they want to be the number one FPS game, is to win over COD and casual shooter gamers, but even for me, who likes the old Battlefield games , I turned this off after 2 hours of playing.
This could backfire on them, releasing such a bug ridden beta.

meh... there's so much riding on this that the bugs and glitches will be fixed before too long. Map choice is a bit odd with no vehicle support (especially as the gameplay trailer shows fighter jets, choppers, tanks etc)
My biggest gripe is with the post match summary screens. They're really cluttered and not very easy on the eye. They should have left the layout the same as BFBC2.
Oh and I want a Vietnam add-on for BF3; its all I play on BFBC2 now :grin:

Anyone else getting fed up with the flash lights too?
Had no end of people just running around with them on last night, blinding me , making it near on impossible to play that current game.

Been playing it on PC for the last 3 hours. Seems so good, remember it's only a beta so it won't be exactly the same when it's released, they'll have fixed all the bugs by then (hence why they use the beta to find those bugs).
I'm loving it really, weapons are good and the graphics are great.

All the bugs have been fixed its just this release is an old version (due to MS and Sony's long winded certification process)
Does anyone know how to get in the same squad as your party?
We all connect at the main menu in a squad but when we join a game we go into different squads?

downloaded this at the weekend for ps3, like already said took a little getting used to but really like it ,apart from the mentioned feckin flashlights lol,as for your question steve afraid not i tried to join someone yest and couldnt do it

Yeah there's quite a few bugs. Just to name a few
- Can shoot and kill through rock
- Straight bolt addon on the SV98 sniper doesn't work
- Sometimes when you're stood still you slip down the slop you're on, like for example if you're on stairs you'll slowly creep down
- Can't bind mouse buttons
What I still don't like is the fact that snipers are not 1 hit kill unless you get them in the head, in real like a sniper shot in the torso or head will kill you. Also the fact that the starter sniper, the SVD is semi automatic and then the unlockable SV98 is bolt action but as I said it requires 2 shots to kill so it's so much easier to use the semi auto one as if you miss/hit them once you can fire off again. Until they make a proper battlefield that is more sniper friendly I won't be happy.
The bugs that people are currently reporting will all be fixed for the release, that's the whole point of the beta, which makes me happy because if it was the actual game that had all these bugs I wouldn't buy it.

There's also a lot of keys that are bound that you can't configure from the options menu. For example J and L. so if you bind them to something they try to perform multiple actions at once. Makes it unplayable for me.

Yeah it's barely playable to be fair. I think if I was asked to create a battlefield game I'd get rid of all these flashlight and laser blinding sh!t, get rid of the markers that hover above you thus revealing yourself to the enemy and allow complete customization of the kit. For example I'd love to have the M16 rifle (although I've yet to try the scar, from previous BFs the scar is always the weapon of my choice) paired up with an RPG on my back, a couple of extra grenades in the pocket and a claymore to go with them. That kit would own :cool:

You can buy a disc from amazon for £30, it's still limited edition but you don't get such good addons.

had a go on it on sunday, didnt really like metro at all, ive a feeling it will be one of the least liked maps, im hoping the large maps will be awesome like they are in bc2, im also hoping the kits are not as they were in beta as i think they got the kits just right in bc2

khare I have to pick you up on a couple of things:
- the markers above your head are only visible to your team mates by default, and enemies only when you've been 'spotted'. this lasts for about 10 seconds. it means if a sniper can see you but cant take the shot, another enemy player will at least be able to take it.
You'll find this feature useful on larger maps if you're pinned down by a sniper. Mark the target and a team mate can take the shot. You'll get points for it. It's all about teamwork, not Rambo style glory hunters.
- as for sniper rifles not killing in one hit, i appreciate its not realistic BUT it doesn't detract from the game play. There's nothing worse than spawning on a squadmate only to be sniped from across the map 2 seconds later by a one-hit-kill camper. Sniping on this game is rewarding, but there is some skill involved (unlike COD)

Just got my GTX 460 installed today so decided to fire up BF3 to see how it would perform. All settings to high and I'm getting 30+ FPS. Looks fantastic, I'm seriously pleased :cool:

chris, spot on, sniping in bc2 takes some skill especially to get a 1 shot headshot kill from distance, it can take 5 shots just to get the range.
khare you got to realise that if you dont play as a squad and work as a team then your gonna get mullered alot. its not about how many kills you get but how many points you can rack up, eg capturing a flag in conquest is worth more than a kill, resupplying a squad mate is almost half the points of a kill

i havent played the beta for a few days but funnily enough BCBF2 has been a bit laggy for me recently

New improvements since the beta:
First thing I noticed on the consoles were the graphics. They looked much better than the beta. Textures were smoother, character movements were much more fluid, and environments seemed to have more warmth to them. Also, the lighting was more dynamic, atmospherics more gritty and present, things just seem to run smoother on this build. All the frame rate issues, glitches, pops and sound drops of the beta were nowhere to be found. Bach reiterated that the beta was already a month and a half old before it was launched because of the time it takes to certify for release. It’s amazing how much polish they were able to put on the game since the beta.

That's what makes me happy, knowing that all these creases the beta showed up have been ironed for the final masterpiece. It's the whole point of a beta, and as the battlefield franchise is so popular the market that showed up was huge, hence why so many glitches and the rest could be improved. I'm loving the beta (apart from the odd glitch or so), but if the game is even better then I really don't see why BF3 won't be the biggest selling game in recent years.

Like I said a few pages ago. The game has already being made and is waiting at warehouses all over the world at the moment. They fixed all the bugs ages ago

still lots of bugs, can't comment on the aircraft as you can't bind any keys e.g. I can't map my stick :rolleyes:
