I know it is not a GTI, been on this site a while and I use to own a MK5 GTI up untill I sold it 3weeks ago.
My Golf R has finally landed, it was unloaded off the transporter this morning and I pick her up on Thursday. I had to get the misses to finish work early just so I could go down and view her. I am like a little kid at Christmas . I am really pleased with the colour combo, to be honest the photo's don't do this car justice.
Now for some pics.
My old MK5 GTI which I loved.

Thanks for the comments guys. Its now less than 24 hours untill I pick her up.
Radek
Yes its rising blue, I was having doubts about the colour combo, but after seeing her in the flesh yesterday I really happy. Started her up also yesterday and for a car with standard exhaust, it does sound good, nice burble to it. Very impressed, the hard part will be runing her in. What colour are you getting?

Stop this talk of R's. I'm depressed cause I haven't got one

Congrates on the new car, I think thats the best colour for the R. Hope you enjoy the Car :)
-
Lovely car m8:)
many happy miles to you both!
-

The same! You are absolutely right - the colour choice on the R was such a headache. Rising blue looks so different on each picture I've seen but it I felt it was the right one. Mine will come with 18" wheels. I guess yours are 19"?
On the GTI it took me less than 2 weeks to put 1000 miles  I was so eager to get the run-in out of the way. Will it be different this time? Not sure to be honest...
-
Absolutely gorgeous car, and the colour is epic. Would really have loved to be able to stretch to the R when I was on the lookout for my new hack.

Yes mine are 19inch, the rides not to bad but driving rouind Wales this week you do notice them. Have now done just over 700miles(week off work) in a week, run out of money to spend on V power, so just going to do my normal run to and from work.
-
Yum hi great car in a smashing colour

Did you go for ACC? I test drove an R with 19" and ACC and around town it was very much ok. But I didn't want to push my luck so I settled for 18".
Well, the good news is my car is ready for collection for Friday. It was supposed to be 3 more weeks but there it is. Confused.com

I have just seen an R in Shadow Blue OMG it looked absolutely awesome.
Sorry to all you guys with Rising Damp Blue  but Shadow Blue has to be the way to go, it just looks much more classy somehow, I want, I want.

Yeah I know but it did look gorgeous with the sun on it, just ask Snoops.

Amazing looking car, extremely jealous. I do like the look of the R a lot.
-
Thanks for the coments. To be honest Rising blue seems to very rare with a lot of people going for either grey or white. I like it

I did not get the ACC as a lot of the magazines have said the car rides better with out it. To be honest I think it is a bit off a gimic. Yes it does get a bit bouncy, but not a lot more than my GTI mk5 with its 18s. To be honest I am very impressed with the car and the way it rides on 19s. I am at 870miles, not long to for the 1000s and then I can start to open her up.

OMG what have you done? The ACC cultist's will be along soon to set you straight :smug:
I on the other hand agree I can't speak for the R but IMO the GTI doesnt need ACC.

Shadow Blue = Class
Rising blue = Crass
Without ACC = Crap

Shadow Blue = For the over 50s
Rising blue = Look at me!!
With ACC = For Osteoporosis sufferers
Lets go fishing

Simply does not have the same ring as:
Shadow Blue = Class
Rising blue = Crass
Without ACC = Crap
Try harder or get ACC or better still ACC + Shadow Blue.

Shadow blue for the more understated / classless appeal! If you notice a lot of the Golf adverts have shadow blue on. Also its the non-descript colour they choose for when their prototypes go out for roadtrips.
I agree with the ACC, why by sports then buy a cushion.
"I'd like a really nice road bike (pedal) with a big squishy saddle and chunky tyres please!" Although I love the technology used on the Audi's with the magnets and the fillings, is it the same on the golf's?
-
I completely disagree with the dislike of ACC. It's a very good tech (I had it on the GTI) and if you can afford it buy it. If you can't, don't, but don't make a philosophy out of it.
If I only had a penny every time I hear this: sports car = harsh ride. And only manual! Cruise control on a sports car?? Never! How about synchro mesh? Isn’t that a little bit too soft for sports car?
I had a chance to drive a new BMW 640i SE and the amount of toys and gadgets (“optionsâ€) is staggering. The test car had £14000 worth of that and some of them are really nice like head up display or night vision. You get a 60 page book from Porsche with options for any model – including hardcore models like RS.
Rant end :lipsrsealed:

I just let them get on with it. I look on and think their sheep and follow the flock. Then find it funny how the 'in' colours at the time never become the ones enthusiast collectors want in the future. :lipsrsealed:
