I dont think its healthy driving in 4th up a hill full stop espically under load - you will jjust be labouring the engine - just general driving styles I guess.

its not what you would call a steep hill guys!
besides I would of thought the 8v 2.0 has enough torque to get it up there.
it does do it sometimes on flat roads as well.

I would also agree that 35mph in 4th is putting too much strain on the engine, especially if you have to put your foot to the floor. Try doing it in 3rd instead

Honestly mate, people aren't joking. 35 in 4th gear up hill is asking alot. Your revs will probs be around 2k rpm, maybe less. Any car, no matter how much low end torque it has will struggle to pick up doing that. Shift down to third and you will have a little pick up at about 3k rpm. Shift down to second and your bang in the middle of your peak torque range at about 4.5k rpm and you will have power on tap.

ok will do, just thinking of fuel thats all I suppose :undecided:, it does pull good from 35-40mph in 4th though

The car will be more efficient driving in the correct gear rather than putting the engine under excess strain.

Tryed 4th gear at 35 up a hill today, whats all the fuss about ,no labouring of the engine or juddering and mines a 16,should be no problem with the massive torque monster 8v

Sorry did also forget to say that when I had the MOT done last month the car is running rich and only just passed the emmisions test, and yes I had flushed the engine out and put good quality oil in as I always have done.
