Title: Spiders
Post by: The Mighty Elvi on 06 September 2011, 10:26
I like spiders.  I have quite a few in the house now that the weather has turned.  So I was looking at google images to identify a few news ones and I came across this.

Don't look down if your scared of spiders as this one is real.

Don't Mess with a Redback Spider!!

An office receptionist got the shock of her life earlier this week when she found a 70cm long snake entangled in the web of a deadly spider. Tania Robertson, a receptionist at an electrical firm, came in to work on Tuesday and spotted the sight next to a desk in her office. The snake, which had obviously died from the spider's poisonous bite, was off the ground and caught up in the web.

Leon Lotz of the Arachnology Department at the National Museum said it was only the second time that he had heard of a snake getting caught in a spider's web. It is believed the snake got caught in the web on Monday night. But it did not take the spider long to bite it. A red mark on the snake's stomach was evidence of where the spider had started eating it.

Throughout Tuesday, the spider checked on her prey, but on Wednesday she rolled it up and started spinning a web around it. She also kept lifting it higher off the ground, while continually snacking on it.

i hate spiders, completely pointless...

(even though i have a tattoo of one as if its crawling up my leg)

thing is, im the one that has to catch them then throw them out, so i make sure they die a horrible death in the process

on monday i cleaned the gfs car, by thursday, theres were 2 huge webs covering the wing mirrors again, everytime i get rid, they reappear, obviously the spiders are hiding in side, ive tried pressure washing them out, any ideas on what i can use to kill/remove them?

thanks

Same as Stainsey...... My line of work means I have to come into contact with these things!

I am in demolition so work a lot on old buildings. Some of the spiders I have seen, I am not saying thay were big but some had hair do's freshley styled by Nicky Clarke   Size 9 boots etc!  Its strange when I am at work as I will move them out of the way into a safe area as I cant kill anything.....Yet if I see one in my house I make Linford Christie look slow

this is called a Boris (all spiders are called Boris - there was a thread on this before the big delete of '09)

as for picking spiders up... i have no problem with this (apart fromWalnut orb-weaver spiders and anything I don't trust).. however I don't agree with killing spiders or anything really just for the sake of it (unless they are parasitic)

I am not bothered by spiders. If I pass one I just let them do what ever they were doing. The only spiders I ever see here in are daddy long legs and like ones the hop around and are the size of a finger nail.  Africa for you
