Title: engine cuts out at 5000rpm

My Golf gti mk3 will not rev over 5000rpm can anyone help??? :undecided:

thanks i look into this now, if it the hall sender do i need to change the dizzy?

Sounds like the timing is out and it is in safe mode.

Has it had a cam belt recently

when i got th car 3 months ago i changed the cam belt first before i even drove the car on the road :wink:

Then that will be the problem, timing will be out by a tooth. Get it checked out  :smiley:

Set TDC and adjust the dizzy if out only a tooth or two, lot easier than taking it apart again :smiley:

As everyone else has said timing is out, I had this when I bought mine, had it serviced with a new belt and revving up to 6500 now  :grin:
