As topic above! What is the MAX performance for vr6 2.8 can i gain with bolt on performance parts like camshafts, big thorttlebody, performance chip and other but without going to turbo, supercharge or increase capacity?
-
Depends how deep your pockets are! Can get REALLY expensive!
Spend say £3k and you might get 250/280bhp???
Dunno go do the research.
-
I think it is around 220bhp without forced induction.
Wait for Glen(Ess-Three) to appear, he will be able to give you more detailed info.
-
Yep your looking at around 220bhp but as above Glen is the one to ask.
-
It would be cheaper to go the forced route.
You'd want cams, ported and polished head and throttle body, Shrick manifold, then you would want proper induction and exhaust. That will cost around 2.5k at least second hand..

The mods i already done to my vw golf mk3 vr6 is:-schrick vsr inlet manifold,CAT 256 performance cams,EIP stsge-3 chip,k&n panel filter, corrado vr6 2.9 big throat thorttlebody, full abt exhaust system and remove CAT,so what is the estimate BHP and TORQUE for my vr6?
Thank You.

200 to 220bhp as a guess

Get it on a Rolling Road and find out!
You just missed the Charity day one in Hinckley!
Next one is 1st October in Alrnicham!
-
That thing with all those done will be torque tastic!
Can i ask why you went with 256 cams?
-
The reason i choose CAT 256 cams is becuase i prefer high torque and future if i want to turbo or supercharge my vr6 i can still use this cams
-
The wrong cams may actually reduce power!

I want my vr6 to stay NA. overtime I am buying parts. lightened crank (forged if possible) light rods, high comp pistons. I want to bore it as much as possible. 3.0? lots of head work porting etc. wild cams, good springs, titanium followers, jenvey itb's. slightly bigger injectors, good fuel pump, standalone ecu and a good map. 6 branch manifold and decat, custom decat back. maybe NOS and a lsd and some 6 pot brakes
Then things like oil cooler and pro alloy radiator etc. (my mate works at pro )

I guess you'd need all the help you can get moving that heavy mk3 about
-
256 or 262 cams are fine on a VR, anything wilder can hurt power or torque.

My old MK2 2.0 16V made 120bhp and 92ft lb with some silly cams that the monkeys at TSR fitted. Twats
-
Didn't Wayne used to work for TSR... :lipsrsealed:
-
I have done so much to my vr6 but on 0 to 60mhp time still can't beat the standard vw golf mk5 gti(197bhp)
-
Can't have done that much then :undecided:
they weight more for a start.

The MK5 is less than 0.5 secs quicker to 60 than a standard VR so you either haven't done much to improve the power or you have increased the power and are a crap driver.
-
i had a VR and didnt find it fast either... they sound good but too heavy.. id put money on a standard mk5 GTI wooping your ass all day long unless you have a charger or turbo...
-
i think a n/a vr6 with 220 bhp would be a beast, i would make sure you spend your money on a obd 2 though, ;)

i will sell my nos, 1 of the small plastic pipes has a leak at the moment, very cheap fix though about £5, its a wizards of nos kit, have the receipt for £515(and another of £250 for fitting), theres some in the bottle too. actually just buy my car, its got a vortech v1 charger, ap racing 4 pots, new jamex coilies, eibach strut brace/roll bars, polished inlet manifold, ap clutch, janspeed cat back,k&n filter, fake bbs ch`s 10 months m.o.t and about 4 months tax! bargain at £2300! lol
