Damn... really? people don't like them even on a standard motor let along something that's rocking as many ponies as you are.  Although not Standard mines not pushing anything like yours and it's rolling with Corrado G60 Brakes up front...  I would strongly recommend a subtle upgrade at least because even on a strip they will fade fast me thinks.

i have the 9inch servo and 22mm mastercylinder , they seem to be pretty good
Title: Re: my mk1 golf 1.8t :)
Post by: lord14 on 17 June 2011, 14:16
the only brakes im considering are mayeb teh g60 calipers and discs on the front and mk2 gti rear discs , but cant really go any bigger as i only have 15inch alloys

Same as me, yes it does make a difference.

Yeah i'm on 15's and the G60's are spot on... a worthwhile upgrade for sure.

Very nice.

Im also running the 9'' servo with a porsche master cylinder. Makes my g60 brakes on the mk2 feel unsafe

Amazing progress.  Respect to your skills, especially with that manifold.  How far you going with the mapping?
Title: Re: my mk1 golf 1.8t :)
Post by: lord14 on 07 September 2011, 20:33
bloke at mapping says it will make 320bhp safely , on them internals , once its forged its good for 400bhp . as my brothers is the same set up apart from the internals

fair shout :) i am just about to undertake this conversion myself on my mk1 cabrio gti
Title: Re: my mk1 golf 1.8t :)
Post by: lord14 on 10 September 2011, 23:36
yeh the 1.8t is a simple conversion really you can buy alot of the stuff now :/ i had to make the drivers side mount . and you can use the gti box and shafts . but i had to convert everythink to hydraulic clutch and move the chassis mount as mine was a 1.3

i'm going to pass on the gti box and shafts, i'd rather not risk the bang in the gearbox

plus i quite the idea of the comfort for cruising 6th gear gives :D
Title: Re: my mk1 golf 1.8t :)
Post by: lord14 on 17 September 2011, 20:09
mk4's only have 5 speed boxes dont they ?. i thought it was just the seat which do 6 speeds on the 1.8t's . best bet would be to buy a o2a gearbox or a o2j with 100mm drive flanges .
Title: Re: my mk1 golf 1.8t :)
Post by: steble on 19 September 2011, 22:56
i have a leon cupra as a donor car :)

using gearbox codes means nothing to me atm i'm afraid lol
Title: Re: my mk1 golf 1.8t :)
Post by: lord14 on 19 September 2011, 23:05
its just 100mm flanges on the gearbox is the only shaft you can use in the conversion i made the mistake of using my mk4 gti box with 108 mm box flanges and had to change the box after calling a few places up .

Love this car!!! nice job!!

Yes mk4's do come with 6 speed boxes in the AUQ engines i.e anniversary models and post 2003 gti T's

On the VAG COM front, I bought this one of ebay

VAG COM Car Diagnostic Scanner Fault Code reader

Orange thing for £25, I can't recommend it highly enough for the money...full code reading and resetting. I've used it on my dad's MK4 and it said rear ABS, changed the sensor did the job probs solved.

Also worked fine on my LCR225 and my mates MK4 Golf.. obviusly you can't change parameters like a full VAGCOM but for the money it can't be beaten.
