if sooo looks like a trip to the dealer.. :( should be fun.

It does not normally go in straight lines like that. Its normally more a squiggle. That maybe a graze on the lac of the alloy.
White worm looks more milky like

ive not been anywhere near curbs. its not a graze as its completely smooth to the touch just like the other wheels..
its on 3 spokes, and the other one has the same but more squiggly like you say in the middle of the spoke face..
its only appeared today after last nights serious rain.. :(
-
haha ive just seen your photo!! jesus! wellll i dunno what it is then.. its certainly not a graze.. it looks like the white marks follow the very fine lines of the cut face on the wheel under the lacquer

That's how it starts

if so then vw really do need to put more layers of lacquer on. cos ive only done 400miles in the car and only washed it 3 times.. :( dryed the wheels everytime..

Talented dog, I can only just get it in the bowl let alone that straight........
Disapointing on the wheels, defo a Dealer visit.

I love the look of polished rims but they are one pain in the a55 to live with in the UK
Good for us that we have a warranty

I dunno, that really doesn't look like whiteworm to me and i should know as one of my wheels is infested with it and the other 3 have it to a lesser extent. It tends to be more wormy or squiggly!
Agree with the Doc, I love these wheels but they're just not practical or even easily repairable. The vancouvers on my upcoming GTD won't have the same wow, but hopefully they'll still look decent after a couple of years!

Filiform corrosion is a type of localized corrosion that is often associated with aluminum and magnesium alloys that have an organic coating.
-
Doesn't look like white worm to me which tends to be more random, looks like some sort of rubbing mark..
-
One of the reasons that put me off getting them.
That and the harsher ride, slower speed, higher cost :lipsrsealed:
-
local dealer has ordered me a new wheel and has booked me in to get it swapped over next week.

Unfortunately the Vancouvers are just as prone to whiteworm as the Monzas. Diamond cut and lacquer finish.
Just make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

.... and the lacquer unpeeled.

Just noticed two of my wheels have started with this white worm. Is this a recognised issue that my dealer is aware of ? Am I fully covered ?

I think you are, sir. It is a recognised ruddy problem and sooner or later almost all Monza Shadows will have this infestation. A trip to your friendly dealer for a deep and meaningful chat is in order. May I also suggest you be your usual diplomatic and persuasive self. They will simply have to comply.
Miss ya. Hope you are well.

Just to let you all know the dealer replaced the wheel today. Took them 2 hours.. But yeah its a fresh wheel now :)

Just beware...
Most of the whiteworm on my Monzas started several months after i got the tyres changed... No apparent damage when the tyres were fitted, but after a few months the corrosion started on the edges of the rims where the lacquer must have been slightly chipped by the tyre fitters...
