Title: Budget coilies....
Post by: snifferdog on 30 May 2011, 19:27
....anyone got any? I really want to save up and get a decent set for the mk4 but as usual, Im an impatient sod and just want to buy some.

Its worth bearing in mind that I'll only be dropping it the minimum amount (30mm) (at first) and just need a decent ride quality.

 Whats the verdict on these?

ive been looking at them but i think some people will say if you know exactly what ride height you want then lowering springs will be better for comfort or coilies if you are not sure what height.

But will be purchasing these myself however will prob get from http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/jom-coilover-suspension-kitbr-golf-4-14-16-18-18t-19sdi-19tdi-20-23-v5-fwd-0797-p-1255.html that way atleast its a shop incase you ever had any problems

i went for fk street coilovers about same price i've gone quite low and got a new arb and droplinks, but for 30mm you should be fine for just the coilovers and new strut top mounts and bearings and then get the tracking alignment checked

FK's arent as good as people make out...... Had a dampner p!ss oil out within 6 months. Unforgiving ride and poor handling. Save your pennies for some proper weitec/tein etc or if your only going 30mm get Bilstein shovks with Eibach progressive springs

Get them.

I've been running them for nearly a year and they are an improvement over stock but quite harsh and stiff... If you want an improvement in ride and don't want such a harsh ride get the FK-AK set, they are £5 more and much more comfy and still a vast improvement over the stock cr@p.

Just my two cent as I got JOM's fitted and a friend had FK AK's fittes the same time.

By a considerable amount too,, on the fk ak you can still bounce the car around whilst parked up on the JOM's there hardly any movement in comparison, all depends if you want a firmer ride or an improvement with comfort. Which is the only way I could describe it.
