Title: I think I have overfilled with oil - only by abit though. UPDATE WITH PIC

Is it worth getting it drained!?

its not too much more. its by the top groove?

so you have the lower groove. then the marking in the middle and then the top groove, the oil is by the top groove.

What shall i do?

I would drain it tbh.

Wont do the cat any good.

I slightly overfilled my 1.8T once and it smoked at start up  :smiley:

Thanks, This is the one thing I have never understood about the 1.8t the dipstick.

What on the dipstick is max mark, is it the top kink?


Will i need a new sump plug when I drain it?

Yeah Its hasnt smoked yet and I have done about 150miles in it since.

I am going to re check in a min once it has cooled down and I will try and get a picture.

The oil was by the top kink, is that the max mark?

Im going to a garage tomorrow to get the pads done, so ill probably just get them to do it

Random I know but you don't have a big syringe around do you?.... ok probs only me that does.... but you can push it into the dipstick tube and because its taped it seals and you can suck the oil straight out  :smiley: Or a long tube and a small drill pump or something. Ether way you can use the dipstick tube as access.

If it is just on the top kink I believe that is right.

When the engine is full it should go to the top of the HATCH marking on the dipstick.... :wink: :wink:
If you slightly over it, it should be ok...

Dont think so bud....I only fill mine to the top of the hatch marking 4.5ltr
