My local mechanic quoted me unhappy on this. So how hard is it to do it myself??
-
what car is it a lambo
-
Sadly not. Only a 1.8t . Mr clutch want 750 half the cars value
-
your clutch should be £150 to buy, then maybe another £200-£300 fitted i would have thought
-
Do not use mr clutch.

Well it is not an easy job to do but I am sure a member near you could help if needed.
-
Cool, gonna ask the father in law he quite handy like that. Cheers
-
its not the worst job in the world, only specialist tool is for the clutch alignment
-
I bet thats £800 for a new flywheel as well. I got quoted £820 for a flywheel and clutch fitted on my tdi. Parts cam to £600 and labour was £220 (4 hours)
I bought a clutch, dual mas flywheel and release bearing for £360 and spent 6 hours in the garage fitting it.
-
I paid 250 for a vr6 conversion thats includes me getting parts
-
Well I'm off to buy a Haynes now then
-
Before you start make sure you have a large set of 12 point spline in particular M10 I think, for the driveshaft bolts and the bolts that hold the flywheel in. The pressure plate is held in by M10 torx too so be sure you've got these tools before you start. As for the clutch alignment tool I just used the bar from the trolley jack handle and it fit tight and snug, in all other times when I've not got the correct clutch alignment tool a 1/2" extension can be made to fit by wrapping some electrical tape around it.

Well done! Mine was about £350-£400 all in I think. Did you nick it or did Johnny foreigner do it?

I got a ECS single mass fly wheel pack, which is a 14lb flywheel that I weighed to confirm it was true as stated. As I remember there was a huge thing on here about everyone saying the single mass is lighter, yada yada, turns out depending on which fly wheel is can be heavier than the dual mass.
With the pack you get all the bolts, sachs vr6 clutch, ecs lightened g60 flywheel at 14lb and alignment tool, only place I know that stocks it are ECS and Awesome.
-
My vr6 and g60 fly conversion cost 250.00 all in sourced the parts myself and got the garage to fit!!! that was a good deal i thought!!!!

Got a friend who owed me a favour lol
-
Would I really need a new fly wheel tho Coz that would cut the cost
-
if you are doing the conversion you need a different flywheel. If you want to stick with the dual mass you won't know until you get it off
-

+1 lifting it off your chest and trying to wiggle it in place while shouting at your mate to;
Me - 'F**king hurry up and get them bolts in'
Him - 'Cant your not lifting it high enough'
Me - 'You wanna **** off you **** and get down here and do this'
It a bit of a shouty / sweary 'journey' between friends
