new to this what does that mean mate????
-
they know all about pipes popping off

Welcome to the forum
i assume you replaced it with a new pipe?
Did you replace the clip holding the pipe on?? Often VW supply you with the wrong clip as there are different sizes
Otherwise the connector on the intercooler itself might be worn but I've not heard of that happening too often :undecided:
-
thanks bro doh!!!!!!!!
-
the pipe itself was replaced thats it do you think id need to replace other clips ??

Yeah the clip itself will be worn so you need to replace that too. Worth replacing them all whilst you're at it as you can then check the condition of the lugs on the other pipes and replace accordingly

thanks for that if i can pick your brains alittle more if its not the clips what do you think it could be im not doing the work myself and im trying to help my mate who is carrying out the work thanks

The connecting pieces on the intercooler itself may be worn. When you fit the pipe and secure the clip it should be very snug with virtually no movement. If it moves about a couple of cm's then you know its worn
Its normally the lugs on the pipes that wear though :undecided:

thanks again i will be so pleased if thats the problem will let you know if that fixes the problem

Just to let you know the said pipe is a joining pipe so doesn't go directly into the intercooler

Most likely the lugs on the other pipe are worn then mate; best to replace that one too although I know they aren't exactly cheap

Thanks so much for ur help mate

Buy yourself a bag of clips :grin anytime a pipe comes off change the clip for a new one. I usually also replace a pipe or 2 a year due blowing holes in them
-
Or replace all pipes with sfs or allard items

Thanks to everyone went to vw dealer asked for advice and was told to self tap into the hose as they do this whenever a car comes in with the same problem , just shows how good this forum really is
