Here's one for you Nick, for a while now(since well before inter2010) my car wasn't quite making the boost as it should and as you know the car failed to deliver on the rolling road day last year, the actuator being weak was the prime suspect.Well..............since going to work on Saturday something's changed
The car now boosts a mighty 21psi in any gear,it's awesome,it feels just like the first day i came down for stage2.Any idea what could have caused the missing performance to return?
-
dirty MAF? maybe not picking up the correct air flow so cutting boost?
or wastegate arm sticking?
-
thats what happened to me before my turbo went pop
-
Time to search for a ko4 then

-
hybrid ko4 time
-
and what internals does a hybrid k04 have ?? as the hybrid k03 and k03s have the k04 internals :undecided:
-
I can lay my hands on a k03s cheap,so might send that off for hybrid upgrades, good for 250 right?
-
Depends who hybrids the turbo.. CR turbos are very hit and miss
-
just as long as the turbo housings are fine, then cr turbo's are good. problems have come about if the housings have been cracked and they have replaced with no gen housings.
Ask for the rs6 k04 internals, good for 260+ bhp.
-
Thats what i mean Nick has seen a few be sold with ebay housings from CR turbos which is no good.. Go turbo dynamics a much better company
-
How much are we talking for RS6 internals on the ko3s?
-
Think that would be custom so would need to call.. unless a company offer it as a option
-
CR Turbo's charge around £500 mark for a K03 hybrid using the RS6 K04 internals and if you send a K03s without any damage to the housing then you will have no issues. They also fit a Cosworth actuator.
I called Turbo Centre who quoted me near £800 for the same work

CR turbos are good when they get it right, but it seem they are just chucking turbo together from parts laying around, then when things go wrong the blame the customer for oil starvation, or if the dont make power the blame the tuner. I have a few mate who are tuners who now refuse to work with any car with a cr turbo fitted.

Well today the car started to play silly buggers, coming onto boost just before it spikes it's cutting power and stuttering.
Scanned and as usual not a single fault
Any idea's?

Could be coil pack or Ignition map which is an easy one to test imo.
But it could be lean burn missfire from a weak fuel supply. This could be down to a blocked fuel filter, duff fuel pump, naff FPR or even the vac line split the the FPR. You really need to find someone with a mobile wideband lambda sensor and do a log or get on a dyno for a logging session with a wideband andlive fuel rail pressure logging. If you want you can pop down to me and I will carry out a full fuel system logging session and pin point the fault.

I'll change the fuel filter and check for split pipes in a while,it is missfiring on boost.
I'll see how i go after the filter is swapped, and report back.

No problem m8

Good news,it was a split pipe that comes off the charge pipe and goes to the N75.Got that sorted and it's back to normal.
Now that's sorted,it's time to think about the forge actuator. How much fitted and fettled Nick.
I can feel a road trip coming on
