....and it pissed all over me, however it was still fun and reignited my craving for more power. Might be time to sell up soon :lipsrsealed:
That is all.
-
Funny.
About an hour ago I was just thinking how much nice (In my opinions anyway) the Renault cup and trophy cars are.
-
The Renault has considerably more power and a chassis that goes around bends.
-
I had some prick in the megane one this morning driving up my arse when I was dropping my lad to school typical boy racer tw@t I would have stopped in the road if my lad wasnt in the car.

Yeah my mechanics son has an 02 plate 172, looks and sounds very nice.

It has sh!t loads more power, but it was still a laugh (upto 60mph obviously). Was behind him for about 10 miles along good A-road/Dual carriageway so handling didn't really come into it, although i'm sure he would have spanked me even more along a nice twisty road
It's got me looking at clios though :lipsrsealed:
-
Looks like you need to upgrade to a Japanese car.
-
Yeah, thats the point, I love clio cup's and trophy's but they have the wrong image for me. For me, driving a golf is a happy medium between performance and style. I did used to have a clio williams and a clio 16v though, they were great.
-
i know the feeling mate a few boy races blew me out wish i had more power but too old for all that now but would be nice to stick 2 fingers at em
-
Honda type R now I love them

He actually wasn't a little chavy boy racer, he was just toying with me and having a laugh. I was actually ahead of him when I turned off the main road and he gave me a flash of his lights. I know what you mean though
-
If I could afford one I would buy one tomorrow awsome cars

I know nothing about Type-R's, but one of mates owns the Litchfield imported Civic FD2R that VBH put round the test track on 5th gear a while ago. He's been trying to convert me for a while
***EDIT: This very one - Clicky (http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/civic.asp) & Clicky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFDA9so_IeI)

My friends one was a 02 plate so im not sure what series that is but I had a go in it and loved it the thing just loved to have its nuts reved off  loved the driving postion and where the gear stick was..
-
While we're on the subject - I was out in the mk4 earlier and I had a race against continental drift, it beat me though.  :lipsrsealed:
-

-
You know this aint no ten second race?
-
Clio 182 cup is a awesome bit of kit.
-
Only cool type R is the Teg, the civics have become tooooo chavvy!
That said im going jap when im 21! S14a FTW!!!
-
A nice JDM DC5 type r is just awesome. Although i wouldny say its the only cool one, NSX anyone?
-
I drove a clio 172 and even though I found the steering quite heavy, it did handle well.
However below 5500rpm it had nothing! 70mph on the motorway, foot down in 5th and it wouldn't move!
-
Only ever had a Corsa up my arse that actually incited me to race.
A LOOONG two lane road with loads of traffic lights. Did the right thing at first by letting him pull away with his mates and girls in the car, wheel spinning while I stood back.
I then pulled off, gave him two seconds and over took. The laughing he got.
But I know mines a 1.6 and really CBA to race randomers on roads, honestly can't see the point? Not saying it's bad or disowning it but personally can't see the point? Apart form to embarrass chavs.
BUUUUUUUUUT
This is why I want a fast Golf, everyone goes Jap, would be nice to suprise people.

EP3 Type R 6.4secs 197BHP 31MPG
Clio 172 Cup 6.7secs 172BHP 34MPG
Mk5 GTI (manual) 7secs 197BHP 35MPG
Mk5 GTI (DSG) 6.7secs 197BHP 35MPG
Audi S3 6.4secs 221BHP 30MPG
These are the cars i looked at when changing, all around the 2004 year and 8kish price range. Obviously remaps, superchargers and internet turbo conversions change these figures.
I couldnt be bothered to go on with fords etc but for reasonable priced hot hatchs you strugle to get something quicker than the type r i think. Unless you start trading age and reliability that is!!
-
You say quicker than a Type R but when are you ever going 0-60? Its all about real world in gear speeds and unless you are in the right gear of a Type R (in the V-TECH range) it really isnt that quick. To make rapid progress you need to thrash the nuts off it, not a fan.

Agreed. From looking at those figures and in the real world I'd have gone for the S3.
-
The Type R that I drove didnt need to be driven say like a 16v golf to get it to go the car was very responsive and once that v-tec kicked in all hell broke lose  but given the choice I would go S3 deffo
-
Indeed, and i was wanting the S3 but the problem with the S3 was that you get the shape that started on an S plate and looks really old. To everyone else its just an old banger audi. If i could afford the new S3, probably in that bright blue, then hell yes.
As for when are you going to 0-60? Come on....
-
Plus with the S3 you have a lot more to go wrong, Eg Turbo's and 4wd systems, more tyre use etc etc.

Completely with you Mikey!
-
I've driven a 2.2 prelude vti... The vtec sounded cool and made you feel like it was going fast but it was left for dust by my old legacy gt.
Cornered like it was on rails though.
I'd probably have to be hard pushed to buy anything non-German again though, jap/français interiors just feel so cheap and rattley.
-
Cant beat some red recaro's though in a jap car, surely?
-
Only thing with the civic is its not easy to get big power without spending silly money -unlike all the turbo cars, a remap and its easily faster than the civic as my mate found out the embarasing way..
He had one brand new and ended up throwing A LOT of money at it and had a turbo conversion done, it was fast but still lost loads of money on it
Id get a new S3 or focus RS if i was to get a new car, as much as i like civics, they are not quite wild enough for me to go new skool
-
Well how about an MK5 GTI then? I've driven Octavia RS's that had the same engine and they were a blast.
Due to recent developments (1. the MK3 keeps breaking, 2. got a considerable raise) I'm thinking of a Fiesta ST. Not certainly the hottest of hatches, but ought to be fun to drive as well as pretty decent looking and quite cheap to run (will only be a weekend toy).
-
My bad mike, i agree that the teg isn't the ONLY cool type R :D
Its funny you say you don't red light race Bellend! With a name like that :D
I Joke
Parkers Guide figures go here --->

Only time i ever give it is if there is something above my category giving it the beans! Bims with dirty smelly hairy young drivers who think they have it..
Have to show up these fools, even though my car is slower than a micra.
Other than that drop it to 5th and watch the MPG rise :smug:
On another note, whats it like in your areas if you have say a red light rag with someone, Is there a mutual flash of the hazards/lights after or are they generally Ar5es?
Usually some kind of flash of hazards/lights
-
I must admit, I can't help myself most times. I usually start it :D
I will always stay german, though it would be nice to drive a Type R, there are so many more cars out there I would rather have!
French? :(
-
I think if you want to balance style, class and performance then German cars are the way forward.
If you want a shouty, beautiful performance car, then Italy is the place to look.
If you want something performance and technology orientated then Japan.
If you want cheap thrills, I think France is a good place.

Fixed that for you
Although my area there's no respect for decent / nice cars, if it's not your scene you don't get along, pretty much it :D the chavs with dubs are even worse, they just get laughed at by everyone else and by the local chavs they lick their arse, so funny because they don't have a clue about the dub scene.

I think France for cheap thrills is fair though.
Saxo VTS, 106 GTI, 205 GTI, Renault 5 (although now all rusted, crashed or blown up ).

Think you missed the point, lol. If we are talking new Focus RS or S3 money then of course i wouldnt have a Type R, the new one is rubbish.
Here we are talking the reasonable priced hot hatchs, eg around the 8k mark.

:D I'm not a fan of french, probably just the stereo-type that comes with them to be honest :undecided: i'll post a picture of the renault 5 from hull a few years ago when i get home, worse then some of the stuff on barryboys, actually.. might even be on there!

I love how your all publically admitting to racing to Mr Police Officer Mikester
-
Well he's admitting to 0-60 timing which is classed as dangerous driving

I didnt know anyone mentioned prices, but for 8k
Older S3 or golf GTI mk5 are better all round IMO and much better image, for 8k you could get a high spec GTI, or a very late S3, or a cheaper S3 and some choice mods, either way thats where my money would go. I like the civic alot, but just not enough to want one. Plus they are gonna end up been worth less than older S3's soon lol.
If i was to go jap, with 8k, id be looking at Evo's but thats just me.
Point i made which you obviously missed RE the new S3 / Focus RS. thats just what id like if i went new skool. that said, the MK5 GTI is a great all roiunder and tempting at the prices they can be had for.
-

Init I thought I was gonna be a right chav.
Think it's price of petrol, police and CBF with driving half the time that puts me off.
-
Well he's admitting to 0-60 timing which is classed as dangerous driving
Who is?
I cant see a post from anyone talking about nailing there car from 0-60 and timing it, only posts about the stats of each car from parkers?
Although i must admit i havnt read the longer posts.
Although to be fair you guys probably all got GTI golfs for the extra trim and not the BHP. Same as i got a type r civic rather than the eco version for the stickers on the side and the big spoiler rather than its BHP.
-
I'm not too bothered about trim
I like to drive my car

All figures were from parkers

Nobody is Wherry

Nothing incriminating here, other than large want for Jap cars on a VW forum..... lol

im just supprised theres so much love for the 'jap crap' lol,
even tho jap cars a better performance wise, vw have abit more soul, unless your driving the hell out of a jap then you might as wel be asleep.
