Alot of work, been done a few times to be honest! Most of it will have to be re-wired and the dash will need chopping slightly to get it in. Will try and find the threads for it later :)

That is the same as a mk3 from memory but mk4 style clocks.

yeah it is its the same clocks as well just with the different colours in like the mk4

Isn't the 3.5 more of a matte, so doesn't reflect light onto the windscreen?

Not sure but to fit a mk4 dash is a major ballache I believe
-
Any dashwork is a ballache!

Search Button. Found the Vwvortex thread on this a while back!
Sounds like a pain in the japs eye!
Even if you're going 20vt you still need to chop and cut the dash down to fit!

i found someone that said he didnt chop the dash as he was using an aftermarket steering wheel so he just put it in but dunno if thats right?

The wiring is the bigger problem

It will need to be trimmed at both sides too as it is too wide. IIRC you need to modify the steering rack too. I forget if there are issues with getting the centre console and gearstick/handbrake area to meet and look decent. Then there's mating all the mk4 wiring to the mk3 wiring. It's a lot of work but worth it if you are doing a mk4 engine swap too.

Jimps correct, the steering rack also needs to be extended!
