Our Mk6 just back from 1st annual service and this included, under warranty:
New Coolant Water Pump
New Horn (Fanfare 'low' tone apparantly)
New Mechatronics (and software..)
New Noise Damping Pan
Repaired and painted Left Hand fender print (the main body part between rear door and wheel arch, which was creased)
New monza shadow wheel...on order (due to surface corrosion)
New rear view mirror trim
Re-programmed DSG paddle response time (quicker!)
Very pleased at replacement of mechatronics as car is much smoother to drive. Paddle shifts much quicker but it seems in 'D' the car hangs on to a low gear much more than before, almost as if in 'S' which will take some getting used too.
Despite the above surprisingly long list of faults (our MkVGti never put a foot wrong in 3 years..), we still love the car and she'll remain a part of our family for a while to come.

Looks good to me very nice service you had esp DSG issue , hope its working well now?
-
Did you point out the faults for rectification or did the garage do the unimaginable and pick them up for you?
-
Hi Super J, I was interested to hear about your service. Had you mentioned any issues to the dealer prior to your service with your DSG or did they pick up on the problems themselves. By the way, which service centre do you use ?
-
I know they tested the car with the Revo. Did you remove it subsequently for this warranty work?
-
That sounds amazing if the dealer actually spotted all that. All my dealer did was have a quick look at the car from the workshop doorway, get the YTS lad to throw a bucket of water over it and then make me queue for half an hour to pay them so I could have a nice VW stamp in the book.

Sounds like a great job there

It was whilst queuing that I remembered why I usually never go in there. Instead I normally drive 45 minutes up the motorway to a decent dealer. However they changed hands back along so I'm not so sure about them now either. For my older cars I always use my friendly local VAG indie, but whilst I'm in warranty I like to have the VW stamps. Saves any misunderstandings and disagreements!

Bl**dy eck, I hope I don't get a list this long from my first service. However, at the same time, I also hope that my dealer look at all the smaller-points that your did !

This could well be to maximise the efficiency of the turbo portion of the engine rev range. Also dependent on driving conditions. I.E. if the engine is under load it will hold a gear slightly longer to make sure that when the car changes it will fall in to a rev range that does not cause it to stall out, or hit a miss fire.

How many miles have you done? Sounds like it was knackered.

 That is some list,
only warranty work mine has needed in 15k is creaking doors, and had it in today for passenger door that wouldnt open from the outside,
they also gave it a good check over today and everything else is a ok

We did point out most of the issues apart from the coolant pump and tbh got a pretty lack lustre response initially from the Service Advisor so we weren't holding out much hope. However, she emailed us the next day saying all the issues we'd pointed out and more were to be fixed under warranty and did I mind if they kept the car for another 3 days to fix all..?
So overall we're really happy with the service we received, even got a nice coffee while we waited to pick the car up and it had been cleaned inside and out. Top marks VW HK!

I am looking forward to my first anal service in March.

Wolfgang's anus has had more services than Kenneth Williams'. :lipsrsealed:

It's always summertime in Wolfgang's garden. :embarassed:

I take it HK is Hong Kong? If so i should bloody well hope you get good service! Don't GTI's cost a fortune out there??? Like £50,000 or something like that?

Do you know what "New Noise Damping Pan" is?
-
There is quite a lot on this in a Google search.
It could be the sound dampening pan which is like this:
http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=84109
or
The under belly dampening pan which is this:
http://www.passatworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316769
So there seem to be three kinds and one of them is for the fuel tank.
:undecided:
-
GTI does not have the second one but most TDIs do.
-
no, no idea what the noise damping pan is........., I'll ask!
Gti is actually really good value in HK, in context that over approx GBP30k UK value you're paying 100% tax. Thus a car costing 45k in the UK works out at over 70k in HK..gulp(!) and this builds. We would have sold a right arm for an RS6 Avant but in HK it costs over 125k and in last 12 months has equated to nearly 140k due to exchange rate!!
However the Gti falls below the big tax threshold so actually it's pretty much like for like with UK and especially as the HK standard spec is pretty complete. This seems to add even more to the feeling of real value and that the car is punching well above it's weight which makes owning one a great feeling. No wonder they are very very popular in HK.
-
Thought you lived in the UK.
Now I understand why your dealer was a bit more receptive than ours in the UK might be.
Interesting price comparisons. I think buying a GTI in Singapore is even more expensive.
Was the Revo re-map de-activated for the warranty work?
Glad it's all fixed now.
