I fooking love this. Looks cool!

Not everyones cuppa but I think it works well.

I love a decent ratted motor
-
I'm all for being different and all that, but how is it going to pass it's next MOT with all that rust? :undecided: Surely in the next year or two it'll be rotted completely?
-
Surface rust?
-
put some chrome bumpers on it and take off the roof rack/beaded seat covers and it would look ok :afro:
-
nah ruined an awesome car imo
-
I really like that for some reason, think it would be better with small bumpers however

Same.............. I think... I do worry for its long term health though. how do you care for a car like that? looks like it could have been mint. interior is very tidy.

God only knows, at the moment it is service rust, guess you would need to keep it garaged.
-
You could wax the rust mebs?
-
there's a bare metal splitty and he treats his bodywork with veg oil.
i do think this is beyond rat though
-
just lacquer it surely?
-
ratting is for old VWs (i.e. campers, beetles, fastbacks etc) and not reasonably new (20 years old new ! ) ones. In my opinion. :afro:

I'm really not sure on full body rusting on anything to be honest.

lacquer would stick to rust very well at all. certainly not for long

agreed. rat should (IMO) be patina. the signs of age. not forced like this

Wrong!

Slightly different, instead of stripping the paint, this look is called, beating all the panels to an inch of their lives, removing all the door rubbers and let the rain pi55 in and let it rot from the inside out.. but.... make sure the engine is shiney.
This doesn't even look road worthy with that tailgate!.. how sharp!?... and some of the other holes in bad places like near the windscreen.

That Mk1 looks absolutely class. I'm sure that as the metal holes, if filled and repaired it can only add to the look. Lovely stuff

Not a fan, apart from the rims and interior (- beads)
But chrome bumpers could tart it up.
Waste really, same as that 'hood ride' mk1
-
Looks fooking retarded, what a waste :undecided:
-
I like the rat look, think that one looks awsome, however what is the policy on bumpers for mot???? Thought you had to have some sort of bumpers to pass.
I am going to be watching this one to see what it sells for.

If you'd have seen some of the sheds i've taken to the road in that car looks perfect. Besides, you want the tit on the bicycle to remember the clash when he jumps off the pavement in front of you
Remember the bumperless debate on here and think it was established that bumperless if fine for MOT?

as long as you have no sharp edges! oh and on a mk2 the front bumper irons are structural, so they would have to stay in place as they support the front cross member. the ends which protrude out from the chassis legs will need chopping off though

I am sure from memory this was found in a field so they left it as was, don't even think it has a mot as it is trailered everywhere.

Rat look is pointless, I've never ever understood it. It devalues your car by pretty much completely (unless you chuck expensive wheels/interior/addons) and the life expectancy is cut by a LONG time.
-
@ Wayne
Ah right... Well that seems like a lot of pointless scene hassle, waste of nice wheels and shiny engine... Noticed that's not actually plumbed in.

Yep scene points, sure it was sat in a field for something like 10years.
Shame really guess it is too far gone to save.

Those wheels must be illegal with them sticking outside the arch that much.
-
The MK2 on ebay looks like it's rotting around the fuel filler, probably why it's been ratted.

Bit of an extreme move then if that was why it was ratted!
Oh and i'm really not feeling that Audi... it doesn't look old enough and looks more forced than the golf!

What a waste of good dubs I'm not a fan feel sorry for the cars there should be some kind of charity to help these poor ratted cars lol
