Title: Mk6 Bling Lights
Post by: MAW73 on 08 December 2010, 12:39
Not sure myself  :undecided: but what do you guys think of these bling lights?

I'm no expert but they look like a straight swap for the standard lights..... anyone heard or fitted these before?

I nearly bought these myself just so i could get xenons fitted! Seen a couple of pics of them fitted and they dont look too bad. All I worried about was the lack of quality. But then I worked out how to fit HIDs to the current halogen set up and I am all happy again!

I would be interest in a group by of the rear LED's if anyones interested?

My sisters other half is a mechanic at audi (spit)... I might see if he can source the lights with a discount or something.

The fronts dont look too bad but I would need to see them on a car (anyone got links?). Would also be interested to see what the DLRs look like as they can make it look cheap and crap.

The rears are a bit of a no no for me.

I wonder if there can be a group buy for the latest DRL LED Bi-Xenons?

I dread to think how much they will cost.
Title: Re: Mk6 Bling Lights
Post by: am1w on 11 December 2010, 11:31
Alan:

They cost an arm, a leg and two LED DRL Bi-Xenons!

I have priced this. If one wants the whole shebang, that is auto-levellers + cornering, the total cost is between £1400 and £1475, depending on exchange rates. Then add a five hour labour charge to get the lot up and running. The housings on their own cost approximately £800 for a pair.

An expensive mistake  not to have factory ordered these.

Anyone that retro fits them and pays that much needs their head examined.

Only £350 more than the factory. Price of a high end prostitute in London!

Phil: I bought the car at a very good discounted price as it was a cancelled order as the previous guy was sick of waiting and went and bought himself a Mercedes.

He had ordered the car in June '09 and cancelled his order in December '09. I, by chance, rang the dealer on that very day, and low and behold they had one allocation left. They promised delivery in Jan'10 but I ended up getting it in March '10. So it took a heady ten months to get the car.

Post by: am1w on 11 December 2010, 13:09
Talk about history repeating itself.

My nephew ordered a fully loaded petrol Golf Match in Shadow Blue in June '10. They promised him delivery in Dec '10. Then he got a call last week that this was delayed to Jan '11. He was again contacted yesterday and given a March '11 delivery date!

Sorry about this hijack.

Hello Martinterlagos.
Needless to say I am a bit upset with you. You know why as you are quite stubborn and inconsiderate.
Please be a bit more flexible and honest in your pictorial approach.
Yours truly,

Martin, those lights are nasty. I'm surprised at you! Okay the fronts aren't too bad subject to a close up inspection to see if they are of acceptable quality.

On the subject of the waiting lists, again, I'm another that was in no way going to wait months and months and months for a mass produced shopping car so bought ex-demo.
You'd think that with the looooooong wait for a build it'd hold up the second hand prices a lot better than the reality of it. A Skoda has less £££ depreciation FFS.

Asker, stop complaining about Martin's Interlagos piccy . They look just fine, the picture looks just fine and it's a great sig pic/montage, the black Monzas just won't photograph so well, definately a 'looks better in the flesh' wheel (I should know). My Interlagos are coming off the car soon though too, bought another two sets of wheels the other week!

I think he'll hold out just so you don't get the upper hand in the relationship. He's currently in the submissive but dominant position
The Interlagos piccy is from a good angle, and the car isn't covered in snow, salt and other winter nasties. It's a nice picture. Does Martin's car ever get dirty? I've not cleaned mine since October, I reckon I'm going to hold out until March......

Firstly I re-homed Gossa's old R reps as some spares, then by chance found the wheels I was after originally in a convoluted saga of (non)epic proportions: a set of BBS CKs
I've just got a thing for Golfs with BBS wheels as anyone who knows me personally will be well aware of!

I am more into rubber, hence the ContiSportContact 5Ps in Jan 2011. I really hate the Bridgestones more then ever.

What ET51 wheels are there in 18"? Could you post on the non-Monza Wheel thread, please.

Going out for a walk now. No driving today as I am still a bit sozzled. Went to three Christmas parties last night and am still in a bit of a state due to lack of 'sleep'!

You don't need ET51 wheels specifically. Anywhere between about 42 and 54 will fit, which includes about 6 million different designs........ :lipsrsealed:

Phil: I have worked out the exact price difference between the Golf R and a GTi.

The price difference for a basic 4 door is £6430.

With factory fit Bi-Xenons on the GTi, this difference will be £5330. With retro-fit Bi-Xenons, this difference is £5000 approximately.

As I also had to install rear LED lights as a retro-fit, this difference 'for me' is now £4580. This is still a considerable difference.

The GTi, whichever way you look at it, is still very good value for money in comparison.

Don't want to be pedantic (okay, yes I do ) but the price difference is £6050. Minus the spec differences to bring a GTI into line with the R (xenons, 18's and flat tyre indicator) the difference becomes £4455. For those who bought pre-LED tails and want to better match the R's performance you can take off roughly another £700 for the lamps and a remap. That leaves about £3750 which is still a considerable difference but you do get the benefits of 4WD - if you feel you need it.

Ok mac. Bully for the RCD510. You have still massaged the figures a bit.
So the price difference between the two with Bi-Xenons on the GTi is £4950.

Great photo Martin, I think dirty cars look so mean in winter. I really love that look you get when you've blasted down a freshly salted motorway and the car is covered in dirty go faster stripes from top to bottom. It gives it that real Mad Max road warrior look!
Boys 'n' girls, keep 'em clean in summer and filthy in winter (apologies to the detailing freaks here, but I have always wondered about your states of mind anyway...)
Going to have to keep you all in (disinterested) suspension about the new wheels for a while as I'm not using the Golf much at the moment, so it's just sat slightly grubby in the garage waiting for the weather to warm up whilst I blast/slide about in my elderly Ibiza GTI to work and back and in between working silly hours.

Amazing how this thead started about lights and has gone through alloy wheels, dirty cars/women and now on to the usual topic of which colour looks crappest on a mk6!!! I love it!

(P.S. I like all the colours, but would prefer 'R' blue if we had the choice)

Exonian, your right regarding those aftermarket lights there more ming than bling! The fronts maybe ok but the rear lights are horrid.

Like the mrs my car does get dirty once in a while so here's a pic (of my car not the mrs)...

I'm liking the sound of these new BBS wheels. Tell me more to feed my wheel addiction!

Well then lets just get back to the subject of dirty women instead then

There is not another forum that can be such good entertainment and being informative at the same time.
We are the 'Bling Forum'. Is that ok to say? Or is it not quite PC?
Yes there is its mk5golfgti.co.uk its much better than this one for that.

The price of the R v GTI is also worth comparing broker sites as the GTI can often be got with large discount but the R is very rare discounted much making the gap even bigger.

Here you go then Steve, a quick clean just for you.....

I've been meaning anyway to get some better photo's of the black detroits on my car. I shall have to use one of the photos to amend my signature picture with my interlagos alloys on because I can't stand Asker nagging me any more
