Gutted, went shopping and left the car in Bromley car park (very tight spaces), returned to find big f**ken scratches on the side my rear bumper. Obviously this damage has been made by the adjacent car reversing out. Luckily it's just the paint work and no big dents on the bumper, it seems like something sharp was on the bumper to cause these scratches.
Do you guys have any recommendation for london body work shops who can repair the damage?
Found these guys http://www.exan.co.uk/index.php are they any good? Haven't managed to call any of the official VW dealers yet but do you know approx. how much this is going to cost to fix if it's just a respray? It's a white gti so I'm hoping it's not too expensive.
Thanks Guys

where are you based?

Thats the one, did a great job on mine actuly better job than VW

Unlucky fella... God I hate car parks. To get a perfect job, the bumper will need to removed and completely resprayed by a bodyshop. I reckon this would cost in the region of £300-400.

Regarding Exan, I went to see them in Hampstead on Friday funnily enough. I have a dink on my front left wheel arch thanks to some f***tard dragging a shopping bag into the car and it looks like a tin of beans or something has caught it. The dink is 2.7mm x 1.9mm. I got the calipers out after I'd seen Exan in case I was 'missing something' and in case my idea of 'small' wasn't the same as everyone elses when it came to describing it.
Anyway, the estimator comes out to the car, takes a look at the damage and then starts telling me that they need to panel beat the little dent out and then blend it and that they'd have to do the passenger door as well to blend everything fully. For a 2.7mmx1.9mm dink. So, I'm already prepared for a stupid quote and am about to sarcastically ask whether he might want to respray the entire car to ensure the whole vehicle is consistent when he reveals the cost. £1,200. Yes, one thousand two hundred pounds. I just laughed at him and congratulated him on his fine sense of humour. He wasn't joking. I remarked that the most I would have expected to pay would be £500 and that would be verging on daylight robbery as it was. So, he nods, looks thoughtful and then asks to check the paint code in the boot and says he'll have a chat with the body shop. Anyway, he comes back 15 minutes later with 'good news' based on the fact that the car is flat black, not pearlescent. Guess how much they can do it for? £500. How convenient.
Based on my experience, I'd avoid them. The MD of Alan Day where I bought the car recommended them and their work is spot checked by VW as an official bodywork supplier but seriously, for a mark that small, I'd wager that I could buy a new front left wing for less.

£500 for a dent! I hope I'm not looking at those figures to fix a few scratches on the paint work! I think any more than £150 I would be tempted to get out the white tipex! Thanks for the heads up about Exan.

I was charged a total of £1000 for a new front grille, to have a dent removed from the bonnet and the front bumper, followed by a full bonnet and front bumper re-spray with blending-in to the front wings.
I used ARC Bodyshop in Park Royal (very nice people and totally helpful) who are VW approved. There is a long, long thread about all this.
All perfect now.

Get a quote anyway, it can't hurt to shop around. I'd personally avoid the roadside repair brigade. Recipe for disaster IMHO.

Takuma: I can more or less tell you to the nearest £25 pounds it will cost you a max of £275 from ARC, Park Royal. Speak to John Ford. Tel 0208 961 8961.
Flat Black is the easiest colour to paint. Generally requires no blending-in.

Managed to take a picture of the damage on my iphone, got a quote from these guys http://www.automotiverepairsystems.co.uk/ £80 (which I'll probably go for unless someone tells me they are rubbish) Went down to VW Bromley and they recommended them. Also spoke to libra arc and they quoted £350!

That's nasty  barstewards want stapling to a wall.

To the untrained eye, the smart repair type people to a good enough job, but to be honest all they will do is give it a quick rub down and blow some (quite possibly miss matched) paint at it.
My Mrs recently caught the rear bumper of her car on something, drove away and put a 8" split in it. I have taken it to a mates body shop (who is spot on) and he has quoted me £120 to plastic weld, repair and paint the bumper.
£80 to me sounds like alot of money for a quick job on the side of the road. I would rather pay a bit more and have the job done right.
-
£80 is as cheap as chips.
Will they blend-in the paint with the rear quarter panel? If they don't, there might be a paint mismatch.

£80 for about 15 minutes work and a few pence worth of paint cheap?

Is that down to bare metal as its hard to make out in the picture?!?
If its just scuffs and scratches then it may very well polish out with a machine polisher.
-
P3,
Luckily the scuffs and scratches seem to be only on the plastic bumper.

Yep, that black parts are down to the metal.

Whatever it is, the paints gone where the black is shown, incidentally exan have just got back to me with a quote of £300+VAT!
-
The 'black' is the undercoat for the plastic bumper.

DOH. I never even realised it was the bumper.
