Title: Important advice to all Newbies!
Post by: am1w on 07 October 2010, 16:28
When ordering your car, for Heaven's sake, spec Bi-Xenons and ACC. The former is hell to buy and retro-bloody-fit and the latter is practically impossible.

I specced ACC ( clever+) but not Bi-Xenons (  stupid+).

Some might agree with this, others not.

Oh, Steve30, my friend, don't please say DSG too!

As ever I agree with Am1w both ACC (awesome piece of kit) and xenons (improve the looks of the car  IMO and light up the road so much more) must haves.

Amanda, if you lived closer, you could be the love of my life.

Then we could get Bonnie and Wolfgang to mate.

The offspring would probably be a chimp - black body and red arse!

+ sunroof and DSG is a must (you don't see lewis hamilton driving with his knob in his hand - Nicole does that for him).
Title: Re: Important advice to all Newbies!
Post by: am1w on 07 October 2010, 18:55
Well Jimble, Bonnie has a camera up her arse and can make and direct her own porn! I just don't want Wolgang's knob to become an international exhibit or worn out. It's only been refurbished recently. Besides, Wolfgang has some very effective frontal sensors. Clever boy!
Must sort out some protection soon.

It's rather nice I can have a bit of fun on my own thread!

He's got it made hasnt he the lucky B@57@rd - Not only is he an F1 driver, loaded, but he's got Nicole to do that for him!

I'd say 18" wheels should be standard on the MkVI too - i think the 17" look great on the MkV (like mine - biased) but the MKVI just suits the bigger wheels - I know Snoopy might disagree - no offence intended!

OK, Martin. I know I have a seriously big and beautiful knob. But I am damned if anybody apart from myself will consistently manipulate it or critisize its action. :smug:

Once I finish all the sensible mods, the only thing that I won't have which I consider faintly acceptable, is a sunroof, and which I don't want as it clutters the inside roof. I use the climate control all the time. I need to due to very serious sinus issues. I am quite sick and off work due to this at present.

As for Dynaudio and leather ... pah.

I've got a sub-woofer and fabulous Jacara cloth which is the talk of the town!

TBH the sunroof does'nt clutter the inside of the roof at all, it is all very neat and tidy slide open the blind and then you just turn the roof mounted knob (no smut please) and it either tilts or slides.

If i was buying again this would be what i would get as a minimim and i don't normally spec cars high if at all over standard.
Parking sensors due to the shape of the front of the car.
ACC because of varied road conditions.
Xenons well its a 25K+ car so should have them anyway and i love the way they turn with the steering.
Sunroof lets so much more light inside and makes the cabin feel much bigger, and helps with air flow as i find the cabin can feel stuffy at times.

Personally I feel they should have Xenons and ACC as standard on a £25k car.
Sunroof: I always spec'ed it in previous cars, hardly ever used it and they always rattled or caused extra wind noise. But I agree it brightens up a dark interior.
Yes, the front/rear parking sensors are a godsend especially in our mad work car park. Bloody pillars everywhere.
For me, the single most important option I spec'ed, which is near impossible to retro-fit, is ACC.

+ Sunroofs look good on the car from the outside. There darkended the same as the rear windows which gives the car an overall nicer look imo

Asker your quest for Xenon's I applaud.... but to be honest there an awful lot of money to retrofit and they sound like a pain to fit. If it were me, I'd rather spend the money on a nice set of BBS CH's alloys or VMR 710 alloys. Better value for money in imo :undecided:

You, my friend, have a wheel fetish. I love my Monza Shadows so no new wheels for me.
Contrary to what most people think, it is not that much more to retro-fit the Xenons than the factory order. About £150 more if that. But it is a PITA to fit but feel not much more than swapping wheels and tyres. Anyway, someone else will be fitting them whilst I watch and wait!
IMA, I love those Xenons to bits.

The perfect alloys for the MK6 are the Monza's

A wise decision, I don't have a wife to borrow a Corsa off , but I've been thinking of buying a cheap car to use for the winter; done this in the past but it gets expensive [2x insurance, 2x tax, 2x servicing [and repairs on older cars]]

RickS, Imo its the Monza's Shadows which are more likely to take a hammering in the winter.... i.e. skidding into a kerb in the snow, damage from pot holes, corriosion from the salt etc..... maybe instead of buying a cheap run-around car with all the costs assoicated with it you should instead look at buying a winter set of wheels? That's what I brought the interlagos wheels for (I paid around £600 for them with decent new tyres from memory from a nice chap on the rocco forum). You could even buy some rep alloys or something??

I think you may have overdosed on that pain medicine.

Am bedridden with terrible back pain. Could not collect my car today either. Oh well, they can keep it and see if the paint reacts.

Back pain or bumper pain??   (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Hope you are better soon and can pick up and enjoy Wolfgang (still the best name ever for a GTI) again.

Get that new name/personality thread started while you have the spare time.
