Hey all
When ever i seem to turn my heating from cold to hot or even warm all my windows steam up? could this be anything to do with my leaking sunroof>?

Sounds like your heater matrix is leaking.

Warm "moist" air will condense when it comes into contract with the insides of the windows.

is the heater matrix a big job? will i see water physicly leaking or would it be steam?

It involved taking most of the dash off.

It's a fiddly job that requires calm, tea and plenty of breaks.
They tend to wep a bit so the hot water comes out in small amounts and pools in the bottom of the heater box. When you set the temp to warm it opens the flap to direct air through the heater box and the air that comes out is full of moisture due to the leak and therefore fogs up your windows.
There's a uide on here on how to do it. If you're local to Basingstoke I'll happily give you hand as I've done about 5 of these now.

poundstretcher do an anti-mist interior window cleaner, its a £1 and worth every penny :wink: One application lasts a couple of months easy :cool:

Buy a big coat, gloves and a hat.

Do you get any HOT air into the car??
If Yes Then you're matrix might not have gone....
Open your window slightly to get some air in & buy a Pingue (think thats what its called) from Ebay it soaks any damp vapor from your sunroof leak...

As its the season of updating stickys you lads might want to see this as its helped a few members with heater issues! Winter is upon us soon so you might need to get your tools out!
Only half of the dash needs to come out! :wink:

having changed a matrix before, and not really wanting to do it again (yeh i know, a bit wimpy)... i chucked some k-seal in this golf, sorted the slight misting i got :afro:

I get hot air coming out of the heaters but as soon as it does come out i cant see anything lol, i have to put it on cold and wait a few mins, bit annoying lol. That guide looks confusing lol.

If the environment inside the car is hotter than that outside, then warm air will condense upon impact with cold widows. As air/breath contains a fair bit of water (moisture) this will then fog up your windows. You must equalise the temperaure inside the car, so open the windows and put the blower on full steam ahead.

Asabove but if your roof is leaking that aint helping,
So get a pingu thingy and that will help..

Oh i also found that both my footwells are wet? does anyone know where it could be coming from?

Passenger side:
check that the seal around the bottom of the fresh air cover in the scuttle tray hasn't gone. Silicone seal it.
Driver side:
could be coming down the bonet release / accelerator cable(s) as the rubber grommets have shrunk with age. Replace / silicone seal
As a precation clear the entire scuttle tray of crap. Make sure the drain holes at either end (goes into top of wings) are clear.

think i may look into this demist spray as my windscreen eventually demists but all the other windows don treally do much which does make it near impossible to see my wing mirrors and the rear windscreen is just a lost cause :grin:

mate have a look in poundstretcher. £1 for a spray bottle of ANTI-FOG window cleaner.
I noticed my windows were fogging up in my pug 206 (it has a leaky door seal) one application of this stuff lasts a couple of months easy.
it really does work, i wouldnt suggest it, if it didnt :nerd:

rain-x antifog is sh!t
water sits on the inside of the screen (instead of mist) which does not clear with the blowers, unlike mist does :angry:
