-
well its a tried and tested way of getting bolts out with screwed up heads etc. How did you manage to balls it up? :P
what spins, the socket or the whole thing?
-
Done this thousands of times.
Always works for me.

Yep +1 worked all ok for me in the past.
-
And me, hence why I'm the bellend for suggesting it...
-
Was it 12point? I always find them better.
Perhaps it has an outer sleeve?
Got an air gun?
-
Fear not - halfords have a tool for this very thing. Reverse threaded nut/bolt remover. It's a one use socket with a reverse thread in it. It cuts into the bolt then gives you enough purchase to undo it
-
Never had much luck with the reverse thread ones. Worked on two lockers and that was it. :undecided:
Also need an airgun with it.
-
You must be a bellend for screwing it up.

Advice is just advice,Those of us that advised you about whacking a socket over it have been in your predicament before. The whacking method worked for me as it has for most of us.So next time you ask for advise call us bellends before so i dont have to waste my time trying to help you out.

What a reply!!

the reason your socket is just spinning is because there is an outer sleeve on the bolt. Remove your socket and get a small chisel or screwdriver and start tapping away at it. you will be able to prise it away from the bolt and then destroy it. Then wack a 6 point deep 17 mm impact socket over it and go for it you bellend.
-
Ace replies what a total bellend good luck getting help again!!! next time ask your missus to do it maybe she will get it right
-

oooo, sorry chaps, only meant it as a light hearted comment!
i dont really think your bell-ends at all, as many have pointed out, i did it!!!
Its not too bad anyway cos i managed to change 3 wheels so i have 3 vr6 wheels and one std gti one, its a good look, try it!!
Your right it is the ones which spin and have an outer sleeve thing! they are sunken though so i cant really see how i could chisel it off or something!
Apologies again if anyone thought i was serious!!
rob

Update....
I just got a welder in the garage next door to my work to weld & slide hammer the thing off!!!!
i think i need to think about things in the future before i do em.........
:embarassed:
-
haha it's all about the abuse, i think once you've got more posts people will understand you better
-
Hmmm black wheels?
-
i know, i know, i gotta get the bloody things off first!!
-
I heard mustard helps release seized bolts, not grainy though
-
mango chutney?
-
NOOOOO dont use mango chutney - be better using a small amout of chicken paste!!!
-
Was it me?
I've got a set of Snap-On removers, works everytime. Although you get the shiney silver (I assume they are steel/stainless steel?) and they are extremely tough metal, I always place an old extension backwards on the nut and hammer it hard to sqaush it a little bit.
My locker went AWOL (they came with the car) and I simply hammered the extension, got a punch and turned it with a hammer. No damage to the alloy either.
-
chicken paste works at a push but has been known to cause severe rodent problems later down the line
-
I guess you are right on that one! how about smooth peanut butter? worked a treat on my nuts
(haha - Innuendo much!!)

Dogs will lick peanut butter off of anything.
Especially my nuts.
