Title: removing front wheel bearings

how do i remove front wheel bearings and hub from carriers??

I'm assuming you mean wheel bearing housing not carrier.

You remove the WBH from the car (disconnect bottom ball joint, remove suspension strut bolts, drive shaft). Then press out the hub (on a 20 tonne workshop jobby), then remove the retaining circlip, then press out the bearing - it usually disintegrates and leaves the old race on the hub, so you'll have to tap this off.

WARNING: If you cant get hold of a press. Do not smash the bearing with a hammer without a rag covering it. It can chip away and cut you real bad. Ware eye protection too. Very dangerous!

Can be done on a bench vice and a few heavy duty tools though

Would a 12ton press be plenty adequate for the job, or 20ton more suitable? Price difference isn't that much and not worth buying the wrong tool for the job...

12 ton will be fine. That's what i've got, and i've done quite a few.
