Title: Help with induction kit on a 8v
Post by: Pearce69 on 10 August 2010, 22:05: Hey guys

Iv bin looking at my engine bay and i cant get to grips with how an induction kit will fit? On top of the airbox is a box with the fuel lines running to the engine. or at least thats what i think. Anyway how did you guys go about doing it? I dont want an uprated panel filter i want abit of sound lol.

Post by: Alec on 11 August 2010, 02:27: Yeah like Wayne said, you are running K Jet (Mechanical?) fuel injection.
Induction kits will fit a later model injection system such as Digifant.

You should be able to get a K&N or similar panel filter for your airbox though.

Post by: Agreeable Slick on 11 August 2010, 08:20: I "think" pipercross did a complete replacement for the bottom half of the box, but then that was ~£80.

As mentioned it is more cost and response effective to get a panel filter fitted and if you really want to, remove the bottom half of the standard box, and drill some 1/2" holes on the wing side of the box for an induction roar.

I believe its possible if you change the metering head to one from an old volvo 740.... cant find a pic but i have seen it done.. you could if you really wanted to, take out panel filter and leave the box empty, get the right sized pipe to go to the inlet of the box and fit a cone to that!

Just suggesting the possibilities.. :embarassed: What i cant figure out is why the volvo had to have the same metering head but with that base!?

well i cant think of any other logical answer! A pipe would be on the end of that base with a filter box somewhere else with a feed to that!... the normal setup keeps everything short and self contained.. maybe it was to achieve the oppposite of what most people on here wants and silence any intake noise??

Anyway, all the options covered for this thread me thinks!
