I'm at a loss, like I know many must have been before! Do I turbo or supercharge my vr6, the millage is very good so I got know worry of puttin extra power in her, I'm thinkin pros of superchargin are surely less work, and more reliable?? Other than the supercharged bits what would I hav to change with the current parts? Then thers turbo, pros bein ludacrus boost and sound :) bt surely a ball ache? I kno of a company in america which claim bolt on supercharger kits with great results nd well known, thoughts please?

You will need to lower the compression plus standalone managment.
Supercharger is a good choice but both paths will be long and expensive.
-
I will be in the long run, getting a professionaly setup supercharger on mine  Unfortunately, which will be mentioned a few times, it's expensive. Money you spend doing this could be spent elsewhere on another car with better performance figures!
This will also get mentioned, quickest and easiest way to up the power is to follow in LLs footsteps....1.8T conversion!
With all that said i would do a lot of research before hand to find out what the best road to go down is.
SUPERCHARGER FTW!!
-
VRT
just gotta be patient, willing to spend your paycheck every month, persistent, motivated or just have a load of money and get it done professionally. You'll need deep pockets anyway, or spend your savings because decent standalone management isn't cheap.

If you having it done professionally, the kit alone is 2.5k to run a stage 1 (6psi), so expect to see a bill of around 3k+

Personally the money could be better spent on better engine if your after performance.
But would be nice to see & they make a great sound!
-
Ive heard a few SC MK3s at shows and what not and they sound insane
-
Money wise they are both gonna cost around the same (a lot!!)
The supercharger runs on pulleys off the crank so will give you instant initial power but you will also lose ponies (compared to a turbo) due to the engine doin the work. The Turbo runs on a turbine thats spun off the exhaust fumes so the power is not as instant but greater in the long run.
Like i say they are gonna cost around the same so its your preference really :undecided:

Well not anymore, just heard bad news and more bad news and my friend had a Corrado 1.8t conversion done by them and it was more bodged than mine.
Only be told bad news I guess cause people like to rant more than praise on forums :D
They did seem quite knowledgeable and had some very nice project cars there when we had a SWDubs RR day.

Your only as good as your last job, they should never once put out a bad job tbh.
I used to think highly of them until I heard more about them....

VRS's are far more common than Turbo's But that because there are "bolt on" kits available,
I say Turbo it ;)
A guy near me has a Mk2 VR Supercharged and is currently in the process of getting a shorter inlet made so he can also Turbo it... Utter madness
But it is a stunning looking car!

Storm do various kits - DIY and whatnot

start from £1500 plus vat but depends how mechanically minded you are :undecided:

Been away a few days, good to catch up on the banter lol, hmmm im inclined to go supercharger simply cause i think it'l be a sounder more reliable car, i know i could go spend 5000 on a different car, but why shud i if i love my golf but want it to be different and quicker, i seen vids on you tube of the turbos and super chargers, it seems like the impossible decision!! lol, does the compression need doing for a supercharger? i fort it was jus turbos you start havin to do that, and yeah wanyne i was gona go stand alone unit anyway so thankfully i kno pretty much the money damages its gona cause me allready lol. Ive always wanted my own project car, i could go buy a scooby or skyline for a quick fix but i like walking out to my golf on the drive :)
-
You will need to drop the compression whatever course you take.
-
Cool ok, well maybe i'll think about the turbo line a bit more then, what kind of job is it to drop the compression, if i get an idea of that, then the kit and the ecu, i can figure out what i have left after all this lol

So many ways to sort it, spacer plate is one way or new pistons.
-
Think this may be my reason for drooling over the VR Turbo...

After 5mins 30secs you see all the hard work pay off!
-
haha, you know :) i would probs go for pistons as its a pretty big thing, and i'l find out what bhp the com rods and that can take and decide weather to put the extra cash in to change that
