Title: Newbie - mk3 owner
Post by: als2 on 26 July 2010, 14:52
Hi folks, just thought id say hi, introduce myself and my new ride. Ive just picked up a N plate Golf GTi, 8v, flat black and totally standard. Shes my first dub (had a brief affair with a mk3 gl diesel, but bought and sold within a month without putting her on the road!) my other car is an Audi S2 Avant.

Shes fairly tidy with a few niggles here and there, bit of a whine/rumble from the f/n/s reckon it might be a bearing or shaft. Bit clunky on shifts or lift off, engine/gearbox mounts? Interiors clean but seats need new bolsters or new seats (my fat ass is hard against metal frame at mo!)

Ideally she be lowered, 16" or 17" alloys (anybody got anything cheap for sale?) read and clear rear lights, and ideally a vento front end. Ive attached a pic from the ad when i got her, ill stick a few up at weekend when i detail her.

All the Best

Al

Looks ok great find in flat black (very hard to find)

I would keep the standard rear lights also Vento front is common these days.

As said already looks like a good buy :afro:

As Wayne said, personally i'd stick with standard rear lights. Also with the wheels I wouldn't go any bigger than 16"

Take your car to a VW show and then count how many vento fronts you can find!

1.  clunk with lift off or applying power? mounts?
2.  revs, sitting at 3k at 70, that right?
3.  heavy pas, belt or pump?
