Title: Revo Immobilizer defeat
Post by: Dan_GTi8v on 19 July 2010, 15:46
Has anyone used Revo for an imob defeat and a stage 2 remap? How much was it all together?
I know its £350+vat for the remap but not sure what the extra cost is for the imob defeat

immobilizer defeat :P So you can use a different ecu without having to change the ignition barrel etc

You don't need to change ignition barrel. You need to recode the ECU using vag-com and vag-tacho.

I think you need more than that to crack the codes.

Nope, vagtacho gets the code for the clocks then vagcom lets you rewrite it. It's how Topher and Nick sorted out my ECU when I had to change it (MAJOR!!! Thanks to them for taking a big diversion to help me out).

Cannot help but think a mk4 is different might be wrong however.

khare on a mk3 the immobiliser is a separate box, not in the clocks.  the mk4 has it built into the clocks.  I dont think the mk3 immob box is compatible with mk4 ecus, but could be wrong.

you can deffo get an immob defeat done for cheaper than that though, few guys on ed38 mentioned they got it done for £80, I'll see if i can find the threads.

edit: ok after a quick look apparently AMD and Jabba sport can do it for you

Fingers crossed I may have a defeated and mapped ecu available to me just waiting for a price, though im sure it will be a good one :)

the mk4 has it built into the clocks.

Does this mean I need to get the clocks from a mk4 as well?

only if you want the immobiliser to work, if you get it defeated then you don't need em :)

ah ok I just thought if it plugged into the clocks rather than a seperate box it may be a different connection or something. So it just plugs in where the mk3 one was? (I dont have the aum loom yet so havn't looked at it)

the ecu has a diagnostic connection to the clocks, which is how the immob unit communicates to the ecu. this wire (pin 43) you would just run direct to your diagnostics port so you can check fault codes etc. you wont need the mk3 immob unit anymore if fitted either :)

few other wires to the dash from the ecu but nothing you need to worry about :)

I have an aftermarket immob fitted, will this be affected by it?
Is there anywhere I can see wiring diagrams for the aum and agg looms to see how I can splice them together? or better yet a guide or something to doing it?
Also I'll be wanting to get a cat 1 alarm fitted at some point, will the conversion complicate things much?

People were not wrong by saying getting the engine in is the easy part lol
cheers

the aftermarket immob system it depends how it was wired in, usually they tend to be spliced to the dash side of the wiring, so if you're lucky changing the loom would have no effect on the function of the immobiliser. if it is spliced into some of the engine loom wires if you make a careful note of which ones it should be easy to splice it back into the conversion loom :)

with the alarm as long as the engine is in and running it wont make any difference to the alarm fitter :)

as for diagrams, you ask and you get:
