budget?

out of the brands i've had and tried, i liked dls, tse pioneers, infinity.

are they gonna be amped, and it'll make a big difference if they are.

not had alpine type r's or x but heard both and are real nice. i know a chap with a set of type x gear he wants shot of pm me, and i'll pass on the details

i got some JBL ones that sounds pretty good
think they were 30-40

nice clean clear sound throughout range  :wink:

They look nice, I'd be really interested to hear them.  I know Rhys got some Pioneer speakers for his mk4 which he hates.

Have you thought about going into *shudders* Halford's to listen to some?  Sound is pretty subjective.

When did I say i hated mine??  :huh:  I said I was looking for something with a bit more punch and clarity.......

...to be honest I'm only upgrading because one is broke so anything better than the sh!te VW put in is good for me :afro:

I reckon the stock VW ones are actually pretty good!  They go as loud as I could stand having the volume on in the car with no distortion :afro:
