Got sent this this morning by a colleague. Awesome!

Give anything enough power and it'll be fast in a straight line.....
-
vr6 ftw
-
This guy uses the Basingstoke Halfords. Seen it in the carpark quite a few times.

   yep, even i have been at an indicated 192mph
-
says its the fastest golf gti, but then it says it has its original vr6 engine. they need to make their mind up.
-
Took 800bhp to crack 200mph
-
fooking mental.
This lowly MK1 could only achieve a meagre 189 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp_-tEa-J1E&feature=player_embedded

That was on a road though with normal wheel/tyres!

I have a satnav proven 789mph* on the autobahn out of Berlin in a stock mk5 2.5 Di Transit... Beat that...
*Satnav had a "moment" and thought it was somewhere else then rushed to catch up.

Pretty impressive. My friend once managed to get to town and back in under an hour at 0MPH*
*Broken speedo.

Too be honest, mine's faster.

I can get to 40 quite comfortably thank you.
Seriously though, as cool as that MK3 is going in a straight line, look at the rear spoiler, I thought it was a jumbo jet or something at first.

vr6 ftw
tbh that engine is in the wrong car and you all know it
-
vr6 ftw

So when you banging a turbo kit on yours to make it 800bhp?
Perfect for getting the shopping, quickly.

why bother when with this kit you can gain approx 900+ bhp from a 1.1 saxo?

So if you bought 2 that'd be 1800hp? Could compete in the Pikes Peak with that

SWEET...

Did I indeed.....
Maybe but that was when it was only an 8V.
That video is dreadful - the guy could be doing 2000mph for all the detail you see.

tbh seeing as its a mk3, any more than 20mph and it would have fallen over :undecided:

MK3 > MK2.
The MK3 is lighter, faster, better handling, more fuel efficient. The MK3 8V can actually outrun a Focus RS that's been quad turbo'd.
Wait....
-
lets rip the enigne out and put it in a mk2, it'll go faster
-
he is even struggling to keep it in a straight line to be fair!
-
The mk3 is a more stable chassis than the mk2 im afraid to say. Also wider track.
-
So, as an engineering project, what would you need to beat a Veyrons 253.8 mph?
A dirty great big turbo i would imagine, or perhaps twin turbos.
It'd have to be a VW engine in a VW chassis.
R32 stripped down to bare essentials? Or perhaps transfer that into a mk2 as it's a lighter shell with wide track? Corrado?
Carbon fibre everything?
Surprised someone hasn't already done this top speed malarky before, didn't someone do a twin engined VR6 mk3 a while back as a demonstrator?

for 200+ MPH i don't think the std chassi would be doing a lot i would have birdcaged the car be it a mk6-5-4-3-2-1. also the slight wider track of the mk3 make no differance cos the mk2 would end up with a wider track than any stock mk3
-
there were a couple of twin engined sciroccos in the 80s built by VW :afro:
they looked sweet
http://www.driversfound.com/scirocco/history/bimotor/
-
i think very high up the list would be a roof chop that chould help gain much speed, as for powering it. a pair of the bigest enignes i chould get my mits on cheep, as weight don't really matter as far as V max is concirned and weight would probaly help keep it on the ground a pair of r32 lumps.
both would be boosted but the boost would be supplyed from a turbo but driven by a small gas turbine ( namely another big turbo with a flame chamber bolted to it )
-
have you seen the 'proper' battery powered superchargers?
big batteries for more weight :nerd:

big power claims on thatand a lot of cabling to go with thme batteries!.. you seen this little thing too? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIXHvlmLux0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIXHvlmLux0)
