Hi guys!
Thought it was about time i got some pix of the wheels and the current progress on the build! My goal for the project completion is Edition 38! But we will have to see! the wide arch kit should hopefully be done by mid July!
Anyway, here are the new pix of the wheels! WIDE lol.
They are of course the Rotar grid drift with r888 tyres!
The car is DUSTy as sh*t! But not to worry! Will be sorted and cleaned soon!
and yeah the car is high as sh!t as i put the standard suspension on just so i could get the wheels under the arches! That will be sorted soon too lol!

lol thanks Nav..... to be honest i beliveve anyone can find funds for these projects. It all comes down to what people want to spend there money on! I dont drink or go out clubbing lol! God im the worlds youngest pentioner!
But then again i do appreciate people have families and things on here!

awesome haha, it illegal to drive wit wheels that wide? and if so whats the limit for them being aloud to stick out?

Yes it would be VERY ILLEGAL to drive with wheels like that! But my golf is only for track use! YEt even still the tryes have to be under the arches! ANd that is why i will be fitting a Austrian wide arch kit! But for road, yeah... you need to have the tyres under the arch.
But to be honest my car just fits in a road lane now :laugh:

Yeah sold the cage, as track is strict as fook! Basically you can go on track with no cage at all if it's a normal open track day! But if you are running a cage it literally has to be spot on!
So my cage was only a half cage! Now im going full on! The cage will be FULL, door bars, through the bulk head onto the top mounts (turrets) etc etc etc !So serious cage when done!

liking the new stance mate, real wide. Not too sure about the design of wheels though, probs will grow with time. So used to seeing that design on Jap cars.
Just looking at the pics, is it just the angle of the picture or do the rear wheels not sit straight, they look to stick out at the back and in at the front

Im not that keen on the wheels mate but as long as you are happy. Might grow on me once the widearch kit is on. :smiley:

Being honest I'm not a fan of the wheels but possibly because they don't suit the car's current look i.e. missing bits!
Hopefully the kit etc will pull off the look you're looking for :smiley:
Best get your workers some more packs of Haribo and tell them to crack on :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

you cannot get anything over a 9j in a 5x100 fitment! They only come in a 5x114 pcd thats why i had to get adpators made up!
The r888's are a 40 profile and stretched :wink:

yeah you can go to www.driftworks.com and get up to 10j in 5x100
i'm going 9.5j rear and 8.5j fronts...

Yes mate, picked myself up an Ibis white S3, booking it in at AMD for a revo map and 310 bhp soon :wink:

ok....... the car was picked up on Saturday just gone!
The reason things have taken sooooo long is because i have been saving my ass off to get all this work done! Basically in the region of just under 4k
The fabricators have my car for 3 weeks now, in that time there is a full structural and FIA approved roll cage going in, including gussets, door bars, seats mounted to cage etc etc! So that should look sweet when done!
The arches are all getting cut off the car and tubbed to fit the new wide arch kit, which will be smoothed into the car, using as little fillers as possible to keep weight down. Yet the arch kit needs to be adapted so the front and rear bumper can be quick released for track days and working on the car.
The bonnet is getting pinned, the boot is going carbon, the roof will be going carbon also in the near future.
Not only that, some other CRAZY mods are getting fabricated also! Not sure i wont to reveal that just yet as never seen it done on a golf before!! But it should look crazy!!
I am desperate for photos as they have been working on the car all week!
When the car comes back, the arch work will have taken a serious amount of paint off the car, and of course the front and rear bumper is new so wont have been sprayed. SO i need to start thinking about what colour the full respray is going to be! Im pretty sure of what colour im going for but thats hush hush!

But...... thats irrelevant. Golf mk4's to me are such a cool car if done right!
There will be a point where i get an evo in a few years! But loving this project now!

Trust me, when this car is finished you will be truely be able to see differential in quality!
Dont get me wrong, stanton has made a awesome car with alot of money (it does help when your car is funded by Regal motorsport).
But this arch kit is being done properly (not riveted on) and the car will look to perfection! i also wont be spray painting the car with a rattle can!
So it will be like no other once done
I have still to this day not seen a golf mk4 not competitively raced with the austrian touring kit on it!!

That is gorgeous.. how much is the kit ?? Are your wheels going to need spacers with that kit ??

The kit including import from Austria cost me £2200.
Yet the fitting has cost me £1400, and that does not include the full respray it will have to have once done
So overall for kit, fitting and respray about £5k
And no lol the wheels wont need spacers, my wheels are a 10j with a -35 offset! So wide to say the least

I no its steep but well worth it in my opinion looks immense has anyone really put it on they're car in this country ??
Are you converting to 4WD or gona run front wheel drive for track ??

ive read your build thread a while back and loved the look of your car and got worried when you said wide body kit, but looking at that pic it actually suits the mk4, i was worried of some 306 dimma lookalike.
looking forward to seeing this complete

I have never ever seen another mk4 in the country run this kit. The only time i have is by kpm racing on there original touring cars. but to be honest i don't class that as that as it's a race company and also competitive.
But the only other one person i know who owns this kit is the owner of PVW, and he has never really got round to fitting it!
So this will be one of the first, if not the first!"

As for the PVW car did it not get to Ed38? I sore this about 3 months ago and looked totaly crazy with what thay have done to the mk4. Cuting the rear axle up to get the stance/ wheels to fit.

Not too sure but i know they were struggling for time as his wheels are a 12j so they tubbed all the rear
