It's a mark 2 gti 16v. (well kind of)
Both are standard except obviously the usual engine thingies....Except the ABF is 3 Door and the VR6 5 door
Tested by the same driver over 1 mile.
Now i hear you all say the obvious would win with the fastest time but you might be surprised or then again not!
-
VR6>> HEAVY
ABF>> LIGHTER
i reckon the ABF beat it, not much in it i wouldnt have thought
-
VR6 was a five door, thus was slowed down by the number of whores it was transporting - more doors, more whores.
Yes?
-
Vr6 ftw
-
Depends on the size/ weight of your whores...
-
Any whores are going to weigh more - they have a standard default minimum value.
-
Nah a VR6 percentage wise will be quicker I reckon, I've sat in a well sorted VR6 Stock and it was quick, but I've always said its the driver at the end of the day if the ABF driver pulled off quicker he might just have ruffed the VR driver enough for him to fluff it up?
Down to: TWO SIMPLE THINGS
Driver?
How well the was conversion done?

Your getting off the point here. We know it's down to driver , work done etc
That's why i said 'All things equal' apart from the 'Whore five door' and the 3 door....No whores please..

Then your missing large variables IF YOUR POINT IS ABOUT WEIGHT THEN TAKE IT UP ANOTHER NOTCH? HOW ABOUT AROUND THE TRACK WHERE BENDS MATTER ETC BLAH BLAH BLAH...... a 5 DOOR IS MORE RIGID DUE TO MORE METAL STRUCTURE SO THROW THAT ONE IN THERE FOR GOOD MEASURE!!!!
-
depends on the road, never know a 1.1 saxo on a death or glory mission might appear

OK......Lets go drag strip and brands hatch race track...then...for good measure....Please don't shout back again

Don't know what went on there?
Anyway for good measure same driver blah blah..............Drag strip/racing track
-
I'm doing you a favour keeping your thread alive! With no variables my caps lock was stuck so

-
Was there no toilet available for you at the time then?
-
What came out faster? The piss or poo you missed the point like, I missed the point of this thread...mmmm
-
Still waiting on the results of this.....
-
Yep! did miss the point..Apologies i had a bad day at work GRRR.
'Now then Piss or poo i have not got a clue'
Well the piss comes out first if it's us unless you have had a ruby murray, bad that looks more solid...So i am now totally confused.
I think all being equal the VR6 would be quicker off the line but would be caught in the mid to late drag beating the VR6.
However
I think due to the point above the vr6 would beat the abf in the twisties no doubt about it but hat's all things equal, with aftermarket bits and driver it will make a huge diffrerence.
If a elephant sat in one it would win as nobody is going to try to pass a elephant not with bowels like that!
-
Which would be more font heavy? The ABF in the Mk2 or the VR6?
-
VR6 without a doubt. If you look at how they're mounted it's basically canting the motor well forward of the front wheels.
VR6s: Full of FAIL.
-
VR6 is much heavier in fact the abf is not much heavier than the standard mk 2 engine.
Hence it needs more downforce but once it has it's a close one.
-
I'd say VR6, but you knew I'd say that.... Right?
Well put it to the test :p
-

What?!
Is there a result from this, or is it purely a question?
-

VR6 is around 50kg heavier than a ABF which is around 25KG heavier than a 8v.
-
I've raced a mate in his vr6 on a 1.1 mile straight and not alot in it. I have a mk3 16v.
I think 16v would be quicker but not faster.
mk2 16v for first half mile and then vr6 for last half mile.

what are you on about?
you know a mk2 produces the sum total of zero downforce at any speed dont you. Infact they almost certainly generate lift rather than downforce.
Im not really sure what this topic is about, is it a question or a statement? Who knows!
-
WTF is going on here? Are there any actual results or are we just heading towards the usual 8v vs 16v vs vr6 pointless arguement between a bunch of people who (for the most part) have have only driven a car with one of the above engines?!
-

AHHH!....The Prodical Son in the book of Luke. I think you will find that in a mile weight will become the winner over horsepower.....
The post means nothing so there is no point , but does there always have to be a point?

The only reply ive taken on board so far....

Meh.
Its almost like a willy waggling contest. As long as you're having (safe) fun, who the f*** cares which car is quicker!
On a related note, mine kept up with a (presumabley) standard mk5 GTI last week. Discuss :smug:

He didn't know you were there and wasn't trying.

@ 130 MPH (gps) the frount of a mk2 starts to get very light, one of the reasons i'm quite keen on undertraying mine

well unless he was blind... seeing as the car is orange :lipsrsealed:
-
It's possible - remember new Golfs ain't cheap and thus do attract those of a more senior demographic - could have been Robin, just pootling along.
-
havent seen much of him lately. meeting him in person is quite an experience!

Well done Chris. It's just fun as we all (well some of us ) know it's all bollocks but fun. Luke ....Lowering your pingers to 140mm is impressive but unless we race a NASCA track then if you happen to hit a manky dead rotten rabbit in the road you wish you had not. And you said you wanted to take it lower!!
Luke it takes you 5 minutes to get over 1 speed bump as it is...
