well the question is in the title. i received my baby 2 weeks ago and have put 600 miles on now:smiley:but as its getting quite hot now here in the UK i can't help but to feel sorry for her after a drive.
sooo i have been looking at intercoolers and have thought either getting the S3 or the Forge twincooler,but then im also trying to justify if the APR is worth double the amount has anyone got the forge? could you please share some of your thoughts.
the mods i have planed to do are intercooler,forge twintake,APR or Revo stage 2,TBE and maybe eibach street coilovers..

I think there is a bit of confusion here endy. An intercooler is used on a turbo charged diesel engine to cool the intake air after its been compressed.
Doesn't your motor have aircon? :wink:

Any car with a turbo has an intercooler. The bigger the better! The one on my mk2 is from a merc van, does the job!

I am getting the Forge Twintercooler, had a Forge FMIC on my Polo and it was a geat piece of kit! Very easy to fit also. The APR, S3 etc intercooler replaces the golf standard intecooler so a lot more work needs done to remove it, i.e crash bar, coolant needs drained ( so i have read) re-align headlights where as the Forge just requires to remove the front bumper and runs in parallel with the standard cooler :wink:
Also the Forge I/C will be the first cooler the air hits, before the A/C and radiator so getting the coldest air poss! AWESOME GTI are selling it 50 quid cheaper than Forge themselves just now.

thanks for for the info Kenny, i guess its the forge then should be doing this next week at jkm in Portsmouth.they're also selling it for £470
any ideas on how much fitting might be by any chance? also any opinions on the colors of the hoses :D

Are you 100% sure the S3 one will fit a mk6 without further mods?
Would be good to know as the S3 is about half the prive of the Forge and doesn't look so obvious when your car goes in to a stealer.

yeh i think i read on the golfmk6.com forum,some guy changed to an s3 intercooler and also changed his turbo inlet pipe but apparently it was to short...
but surely the forge would be better than the s3 right....? it is more expensive :grin:

I will be looking to get the THS Intercooler for mine shortly (similar to the APR) but much cheaper.
Ran one on my Mk5 ED30 and made a big difference.
Yes they take a little longer to install than the forge (I was quoted 3/4 hour labour more for the THS) but I really dislike the extra pipe work the forge includes and way it splits the airflow.
@KennyGTI, it's doesn't require any of the coolant dropping or the headlights relignment to install an S3, APR or THS replacement IC :smiley:

just so your aware, that is 470+ VAT.
good luck with whatever you choose, ive personally gone with the forge one for my MK5.

well.. i might just save up and go for the top. I plan to do a APR remap anyway so using there IC should do some good aswell... :wink:

okay i've decided to go for the forge..but i have one more question does anyone have any opinions on the neuspeed turbo inlet pipe? im thinking of getting this done whilst im at it

The OEM pipe looks very restrictive! But nearly £200 for a pipe!!! :shocked: Speak to Forge and ask them if they can make one, usually they are quite good that way if there is a market for it and it will be a lot less I think!

i agree with kenny that is a bit over priced, not sure that you will get the gains you expect with it to be honest. endy, make sure you ring the guy i mentioned and ask him about the inlet pipe too as he is a top bloke with loads of knowledge who is here to help :smiley:
kenny - on a side note sorry but why go for the carbonio if you are going for a blueflame full system?! surely you can find a proper cold air intake and not bother with that, if your going the full hog with a TBE then you need a decent intake. maybe the carbonio is different with the MK6 so sorry im just curious.

What do you mean, it is a CAI? This is the same piece of kit APR use on there Stage 3 kit.

it says its for the scirocco but im guessing it would fit fine...
also is there any updates on the blue flame exhaust?

carbonio uses a panel filter where as a CAI kit uses a filter of another sort. not to start an american style thread but i would look at what revo etc do rater than APR.
you will love the blueflame its got a nice bit of noise to it :evil:

Its a cone filter mate. Just closed off so will be less noise off it and keep my engine bay clean :-)
Cant wait to get it on, standard exhaust tail pipes look too small and girly!
