So I pulled the cover off today, and as my back is making good progress, decided to give her a clean. Camera used - Canon Eos 1000D.

Wouldnt go fast in my GTI without seeing it to be honest. If it aint the right temp I'd let a granny at 80 pass me.

I'll soon get that number up. Officially I cant drive for another 4 weeks or so (although the odd short stint is ok)

It's a nice old feature that has made a welcome return.
As a rule, and as I want to keep the engine in as good condition as possible, I let the car warm up before driving it. Usually takes about 12 minutes for the water temp to hit 90, and then for the oil to register at 50. under gentle driving conditions, the oil sits about 90, and on the motorway sits between 98 to 102.

I just found out about the oil temp a few days ago myself. It's a really nice feature. Thee coolant usually gets to about 90 quickly but the oil takes some time. I always wait for it to get to about 90 before I put my foot down. The hightest temp I've got on the oil is 96 but it'll probably be higher in the summer. Going on a long roadtrip in 2 weeks so it'll probably reach 100 on the autobahn. :D

How come you have a spanner symbol and a star symbol, I don't! I have the square lattice grid thing both sides of my sunroof knob
Gizzy
-
That'll be the VW Phone kit - Spanner calls VW assistance, the I calls for traffic info, and the Star activates Voice commands (although Ive not set that up yet)
-
Wow that's neat  so where does the rest of the unit hang? can you use the steering wheel buttons? what price and how easy is it to fit?
Thanks Spooner

I like it, but others hate the VW kit due to minimal bluetooth support. Yeah you can use the whell buttons and the MFD and the interface with the stereo - as for fitting, i'm sure it was easy at Wolfsburg! (it was a factory fitted option)
-
is this some sort of fetish? all this taking pictures of what-not from cupholders to headrests. is this a turn on? or maybe he has never owned a car. i myself have a mark6. but u won't see me taking pics of my ash tray with a pro slr camera. i'll save my slr for the glamour model(i wish)

He has had back surgery and is overjoyed he can now really start living with his black beauty again.
His picture taking is cathartic and his way of putting away all the pain and suffering of the past behind (pun intended!) him. (I sound like an over sympathetic prat, don't I?)
Now, Spooner, let's see a picture of your scar, or we won't believe you!

Spooner: This is a whitewash. You very wicked man!
Jimble: You have a grey car which is neither here nor there. Stop trying so hard to be a smart Alec as it does not become you. You have been unnecessarily rude and arrogant in your attitude towards Gizzy.
Is it not way past your bed time?

Gizzy is right. Who does that white car belong to? Is it yours or does it have sentimental value? We need to know right now. All very confusing on election night.

Its off a racing game, probably Forza, where he wanted a Golf, but had yet decided on the new color.

You lot are in a funny mood today... Is it election day stress or something? And why did Snoops make an obscure out of the blue comment about my forum sig?
Gizzy (and all) - The white Golf in my sig is an in-game pic of an R from Forza 3 on the Xbox360. The Golf R was one of the cars in a downloadable content pack back in March.
Charge, my GTI was ordered months before Forza3 was even released.
There's some more of my in-game car shots here:
