as the title really, finally don't have to justify a nice exhaust :undecided: and so wanna get something nice.
has anyone got an exhuast on a 130 - just wondering what kinda size gives a nice sound and what examples there are and what they look like........
is it worth getting a full system or just backbox......
any help would be great.
-
I've got a 2.5 inch system from the turbo back
Milltek downpipe together with a Pro-Speed cat back system with an Anni tip
Quiet when cruising - nice deep rumble when you hit the go go pedal
-
hmmmmmm - sounds good
can't decide on the tip either - i like the anni tip but was thinking of going for something a little different......
how much did you set up cost?
-
£165 for the Milltek downpipe but THS do one too which is slightly cheaper
Cat back was £300 from Pro-Speed in Cardiff near me. There's only one of them mind so I'd shop around your area for custom exhaust places and get some prices
-
hmmmmm....might have to give a few people a call,
last time i looked into it the set up it was £495 for a full custom system the way i wanted it :undecided:
does the downpipe make a big difference?
-
downpipe makes the biggest difference on a diesel
You'll be more mid range torque and the power will hold for longer
Read through my build thread and you'll see some graphs from when I first had the downpipe fitted - smoothed the torque curve right out and I gained an average an extra 10bhp across the power band
-
the first line just put a f*cking great grin across my face!!!
sounds nice!
i'll sit and have a read when i get home as don't recon my boss will be too happy me reading it at work.......
sounds awesome!! and then after i get the clutch and flywheel will be on to a remap
-
lol - glad to help :afro:
If you are only getting the downpipe go for the THS Performance one as that comes with a range of adaptor sleeves to fit your current system. With the Milltek you'll need and adaptor from Jetex so it will work out more expensive
-
this is mine mine turbo back exhuast, just started it so not warmed sounds better once warmed up, but gives you wee idea

thanks for the vid, sounds nice any chance of a clip driving and warm?
sorry to be picky but wanna work out what to get, had a 5" exhaust on my old car but that was a bit too much, grown up a bit since then and want something that's gonna sound and look nice but not over the top......
thanks for all the help, think this may all get done this coming pay day
think i'll probably get the down pipe and get the exhaust done at the same time but not sure where i'll go for the exhaust or what kind to get......

anyone know if there there are any discount codes or anything for THS around?

Only for their pancake pipe for the 1.8T. Give them a ring and mention your a member of various forums / clubs etc and see what they can offer
Don't ask, don't get

will the downpipe make any difference if i leave the rest of the exhaust standard?
thinking about a few bits but not sure about funds and things for the moment but the extra power is too good to leave alone......

I ran mine for a couple of months on the standard exhaust system and the difference was noticeable
-
that sounds like a plan then
did you change it over yourself?
-

did you change it over yourself?
nope bought and had fitted it by Nick @ R-Tech
-
mmmm sounds like a plan for me also, THS it is then when the time comes.
Rhyso I always thought for some reason that you had a full Miltek system from front to back all the way?
-

Nope - whilst I'm not disputing Milltek's quality I do dispute their pricing lol
I got an equivalent system made with the same quality steel for around £30-£40 cheaper AND I didn't have to travel miles to get it fitted. It also comes with a lifetime guarantee which is transferable for an admin fee to whoever has the car next  (i'm unaware if Milltek offer this)
-
Think i'm gonna start with the downpipe first then see how I get on.
Does the downpipe change the sound at all? Sorry if that is a really dumb question it's just I don;t know the answer to it

Yes it does - you'll get like a whistling owl sound as you let of the accelerator. Sounds annoying but I think it sounds pretty cool
-
Sounds good to me :afro:
-
Just thought is it like a very toned down version of the scoody burble from the zorst? If you get what I mean.

Mine doesn't do that and we are running the exact same set up(ish)

Weird - mine isn't as noisy as Steve's mind! And since having the turbo cleaned its less pronounced

I got a full milltek and get a loud whistle
-
hmmm.....i really can't decide how loud to go :undecided:
with a full system how much can you hear the turbo spool up? i'm guessing that the owl sound you're talking about?
-
Steve so your system is the loud option?
Miltek front to back and no other company parts used?
-

Yeah he's got fullt turbo back non-res version which you can't hear until you floor it
Mines nosier but again only when you're booting it - I like it lol
-
so how do you get it so that it's only noisey when you boot it?
-
so how do you get it so that it's only noisey when you boot it?
Mine's called a mid-sport
Or just get a Milltek system
If you go custom they'll have a range of silences, back boxes etc which will give you the sound you're after
-
cool - i'm gonna go for a full custom system and from what you've explained will go for the mid-sport i recon.
gonna go to MIJ Exhausts i think they're called, just outside Birmingham but gotta save for a month first so i don't blow all my savings.......
really not sure what i'm gonna go for exactly but will have a look and see what i like.
thinking about dual exit with the tips sat in the bumper but not sure on tip - what you think as i've not seen any with that?
they all seem to sit under the bumper which i think looks sh*t!!
-
They'll probably call it something different so just explain to them what you want
Anni style FTW

i think they said something like mid-sport so will go down that route as love the sound when you boot it but gets annoying when it's a constant drone......
i do like the anni style but then i know a few cars round me have got something similar and i've always liked the idea of an exhaust each side at the back......maybe dual anni style....?
you ever seen it? gonna have a look when i go see and see how it looks i think.
-
Dual Anni Style?
You sure you're not on about the 4mo exhaust? Or are you thinking R32 style :undecided:
-
more like R32 style....
-
only go for a R32 style if you got a R32 rear bumper otherwise it'll look crap :lipsrsealed:
-
not gonna go for an R32 set up but dual exit like the R32, so one each side.
make sense?
-

as above that tends to look sh!t
-
ah right, really........
hmmmmmmm :undecided:
-

hmmmmmmm :undecided:
Without the R32 rear yea looks sh!t
-
As the 2 zorts would sit too low and just wouldn't look like it's meant to be.
-
Discrete all the way.
But I have a plan for my exhaust system
-
i was going to have it sitting in the bumper not below it....
so have the bumper there cut so that it sits nicely.
-
I know what you mean and I've seen it done but IMO it doesn't look great :undecided:
-
yea that's the kinda thing i was thinking of having but actually seeing it i'm really not sure now...... :undecided:
-
Phil in my personal opinion avoid that mate it don't look great in i'm honest.
Also apologies to anyone who has that set up.
When I get round to it i'm going for the 4mo look I love the two pipes on one side and looks oem and like it's meant to be again IMO

Twin A6 TDi discrete
-
Twin A6 TDi discrete
What is the point of having a Twin A6 discrete when you can't see it?
If you go discrete it don;t matter what the zorst looks like.
