It might be sad to name your car, I dont have a name for mine but a lot of people do, but its not any worse than coming onto a thread and being a bunch of pricks by slagging people off for it. To be fair, I'd rather name my car than be a bellend.

I forgot I owned two GTIs during my boyracer days---205 gti and 106 gti. I call them Percy!

I refer to my Mk3 as 'the anni' or 'the Mk3' when trying to distinguish between the two cars parked in the garage or on the driveway...but did I forget I am male, and give it a name?

We Mk6 owners are happy people most of the time until we get a chip on our bonnet!
Our cars make us happy and contented.
We love a bit of fun but are also serious when we need to be. Nothing wrong with that.
The guy's on this Mk6 forum are really ace and very helpful towards one another.
They consistently present interesting ideas and helpful information.
I am proud and honoured to be a forum member on the Mk6 column.

Looks like I missed what all the fuss was about, In my adult driving life I've always wanted to own a GOLF and yes I'm probably old enough to have owned a new MK1 at the time, just never had the money. Almost everyone thinks the latest model of the car is the best if they own it, but they may hanker after the old one, I was like this with my bikes the new one was always better in some ways it just lacked a little something. In time the MK6 will be old and the MK7 guys will be looking down their nose at all the other models.

Anyway, I've never named my cars - the only thing I've ever said about mine is "beast" but that's usually after paggering some slow piece of c*** into the grass!!!
And I do go in the Mk2 section cos I have one so they tend to get called the "new one" and the "old one"!!!

Guys, it sounds like a silly question but does anyone know the definitive answer.....will a re-map of the ECU invalidate the VW warranty?
My dealer has stated that it 'may' invalidate the warranty, but its not really a final answer.
Common sense suggests that it would, but does anyone know for sure?

VW offer their own remaps. They do not invalidate the warranty.. maybe that is what your dealer is taking about. I would get anything they say relating to remaps in writing.

I didn't realise that VW offer their own re-maps.....this was never mentioned....are these good value for money? Can anyone recommend them, though I expect that they're not cheap !
